The difference between "Pro" and say "Out of box with zero paint or flash removal" may seem subtle to some, but not this guy. I'm not going to argue the "Pro" built, "Amateur rubbish" thing here. Since that is not germane to the OP's exclamation. And as a qualifier, there are many a "Pro Built" model shown on these here pages. They just arne't needlessly hyped as such. Bob

No. However if someone has paid you to eat your boogers, then I guess your a Pro.

If it's your "job" (means of livelihood) and you get paid for it, then by definition you are a professional. If you do it for fun, relaxation, stress induction, whatever, then you're an amatuer. There are plenty of amatuer golfers, carpenters, auto restorers, etc. that do better work than some so-called pros. Just because you do it for a living doesn't mean you're good at it.

IF the guy came here and started posting under glass, you guys would be doing the exact opposite. why is this? maybe y'all just don't have the guts to say it to them directly, or you simply aren't allowed to tell it like it is to the actual builder due to the rules of the forum. only you know what's holding you back. my suggestion: either stop talking about his quality work, or let the dogs loose and let them HONESTLY critique the people who post under glass.

We have several members here who are real pros, who put together models for the box top photography of kits, who operate their own companies to create resin kits and aftermarket parts, and who, over many decades, have been employed by large model car manufacturers to create kits and bring them to market. I would add that the guys at Moebius, Aardvark, TDR, etc., are regular participants on this forum. Edited January 18, 2012 by sjordan2

Now, i guess my way of thinking is, is there a model car building profession? Why yes, there is.

The true pros and masters don't have a need to pump the hyperbole. ~ ~ Now before some gomer jumps on Scale-Master using my observation, please dutifully note that his moniker is derived from the name of his business, not from some internal need to self-aggrandize.

Why not? a model won GSL best of show years ago without being painted. The plastic was polished and a lot of people were shocked and awed.(what emoticon displays shock and awe?)

Darn it, if it was on that sheet, it was meant to go on the model! Dang it!! I thought I was the only PRO that noticed that

I've never really thought about this untill it was brought up here. I couldnt imagine doing something I liked for a living

Finally, after 6 pages of comments someone actually read through the ad. No where does it say PRO. It merely says built. It only takes a cursory glance at the guy's store to see he is a model kit dealer. Talk about mountains and molehills!!! Most "Pro" builders build models and produce limited run kits for sale to collectors. Those who do box-art or movie models are few and far between. Digital effects have been taking over the movie model biz for years. Those guys are going the way of whaling.

Making me as culpable as any else that didn't.
