stulee11 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) hi there all... i got my "vantasy)" in the post this morning... so i had a good look through the parts and i must say this is one wicked kit... i have decided to open the doors, side door, back doors and the hood... i know alot of people say to try to recreate the "original" hinges but i am not that well experenced yet... so i will smooth off the original ones and just do the normal inside hinges ... the colour i have chosen foe it is a "dark blue (pearl) ". i hope you all enjoy the trip as much as i will heres the door and hood off thanks for looking in stu Edited February 29, 2012 by stulee11
stulee11 Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 just a small update i got all the doors off... and today my uncle gave me a box of some model kits that he tried to build up but went wrong... so i went for a rumage through and found a old "impala" interior... so i thought being as this kit has no door detail i would cut the impala one up and see if it looks ok .. and this is what i came up with still very rough but looks ok i think well thanks for looking in stu

rmvw guy Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Vans are back!!! I remember when they were cool! Nice job on opening it up now you just need some "Shag" Oh ya, and paneling.
cruz Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) Cool project but can I give you a good word of advice? No biggy, just make sure to take the pictures with a blank background, this way, not only will your pictures turn out a little bit more in focus but it will keep everyone's eyes more on the subject at hand. And I don't mean to say that you have a mess on your table so please, don't misunderstand me.... Edited February 8, 2012 by cruz

stulee11 Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Looks great, all this hard work you've put in is going to pay off big time! thanks doc ... my "flea market find" is coming along now to lol
espo Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Looks great. I wondered what you would do with the passanger side slideing door. That would make a great "TAIL GATE" party van for a Football game.
Joe Handley Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 nice, i just got this kit too. that thing is huge! lols i like what your doing, so ill be checking this out. i know i really couldn't believe how big it was till i got it out lol thanks ... i'll be watchin your one to when you get her started lol If you guys think it's big in 1/25, you should have been around the 1/1's! I'm just shy of 6' tall and used to be able to lay across the back seats and really have fold myself much to fit. Quite the vehicle to learn how to drive in too, Dad always figured if you can drive one of these without issue, you should be able to drive just about anything
Darren B Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Yes it does, i always love to see people open up the kits doors and all the panels, its hard work and it takes a lot of ambition to do it.
stulee11 Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 thanks guys your really kind comments are really helping me keep motivated on this one .
Dr. Cranky Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Can't wait to see it in paint, chap. Keep it going, please.

W-409 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Looking great so far! This Chevy Van kit is something, I should buy too, this project gives lots of inspiration. That bodywork looks good, and paintjob is great. Color fits nicely to that body.
