Chuck Most Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I'll save the juicy stuff for 165, but here are a few finished shots of my '53 Hornet, done in a circa-1965 mild custom style. The finished car is currently on display at Hulings Hobby House in Alma, MI.
rhs856 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Sharp, Chuck. I'll have to make the trip up to Alma when I make my way home to Michigan to see the fam this summer to see it in person.
brad4321 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Great looking model. They don't just put any model on the cover of a magazine. Congrats. But I just can't buy this kit because I find the car so ugly. And it's all because of that rear end and the rear wheels being hidden.

Trace the outline of a tire where it lines up on the rear quarter... Make your own custom...
Dr. Cranky Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Chuck, your imagination continues to do wonders for this kit. Keep 'em coming. How many is this now, 4 or 5? Congrats.
LAone Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 heeey its that car on the cover!! wooo, nice looking hudson.
scalenut Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 very nice tho I see a number of things that surprise me would warrant a "cover car" Just being honest and far for me to critique a far better builder than me It may be I take "cover car " to mean more than expected. it's very nice no doubt ! but certain things stick out to me .that's all I dare to say
Wagoneer81 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 It looks good to me, Chuck! I don't see a darned thing wrong with it... I'd be proud to have my Hornet turn out half that good, which, BTW, I just started my first Hudson build earlier this week.

If I'd known the thing was going to end up on the cover, well, I'd have probably paid a bit closer attention to a few details, to say the least.
PARTSMARTY Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 IT IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL-EVERY SINGLE BIT OF IT!
Gregg Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Yeah, I know, I messed up the cover. Sorry about that Chuck! You got the cover for December, but the model is featured in the January issue. As for what makes a cover car a cover car, it doesn't have to be perfect, look at all the times I've snuck my builds on the cover. What we look for is what we, as a collective group of glue-dropping, paint-throwing, x-acto knife-wielding bunch of modelers, would like to see on the cover for that issue. Oh yeah, and we take bribes.... rolls of unmarked twenties divided up between Harry and me.... This is probably that one and only time that something like this happens. Chuck, you made history my friend!!! Mahalo nui loa!
Janne Herajärvi Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Very nice Chuck. I like how it looks. Cool
crazyjim Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Great looking build. Can't wait to read about it in the next issue of MCM.
Kris Morgan Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Man, that is slick bro. Great color choice and, clean work all around.
