MarkJ Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Finally got this one done. The decals took longer to make than the model did. 2010 AMT Earnhardt Jr. 1/25 scale snapkit. Tamiya ts-50 paint. Evergreen styrene strips, rods, and sheets to make the front splitter, rear spoiler and shark fins. Squadron white putty to fill in the gaps. All decals created by me except for the Sunoco, Goodyear, Nascar race car decal on the a-pillar, and the aero decals on the wheels. These came with the kit. I also had to modify the quarter glasses to look like Dodge quarter glasses. I wanted this model to resemble the Pocono car because that's where Brad beat Kyle Busch to the finish line.
slantasaurus Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Exelent job !!! I might have to try converting one of these kits into a Dodge.
Kmidd65 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Totally awesome, one of a kind buildup!! Great job, I love the Blue with the yellow wheels.
bbowser Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Followed this during the build. Great job Mark! You are an artist with the decals as well as the styrene. Have you considered resin casting the body?
moparfarmer Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Verey well done job. Extra clean workmanship on a rare race car. Again, WELL DONE. MILLER to ya.
Dave Van Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Great work!!! Shows R2 should tool up a Dodge, Ford and Toy!!
MarkJ Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Great work!!! Shows R2 should tool up a Dodge, Ford and Toy!! I totally agree with you Dave. Since these amt cars are the most accurate modern cars available.
MarkWelby Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Magnificent! What a great job, you really nailed it.
W-409 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Cool Charger NASCAR! Build was great to follow, and you did amazing job with the bodywork and painting. Decals are great too and tires look good. Thanks for sharing this awesome build, Charger is looking good as a Nascar racer. I took this bad quality picture last winter at Daytona Speedway.
martinfan5 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Mark you did a great job, much better then mine, I am going to start a new project you might like. I just ordered two of the 2010 impala kits and I am going to try and turn them into the nationwide version impala

Niko, that must have been two winters ago because thats when Kurt was driving the blue deuce and it still had the ugly braces on the front splitter.
JustBill Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 That's a pic of a Richard Petty Driving Experience school car. So its very well possible it was taken last year as those cars are not kept up to date. Great job on the model. Very clean build and a pleasure to the eye to look at.
Dave Van Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Finished just in time....Penske goes to FORD in 2013.......
bbowser Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 No way!? Won't be many Dodges left, Ganassi? Didn't they get their engines from Penske?
bbowser Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Looks like the end of Dodge in Cup? Chevies, Fords, and Yotas, plus maybe VW in the not to distant future? Back to the thread, Mark has built a great looking Dodge COT!
W-409 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 That's a pic of a Richard Petty Driving Experience school car. So its very well possible it was taken last year as those cars are not kept up to date. Yeah, just like that.
Funkster Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Great build. Wish the model companys would make a Dodge race car! As they won't be around much longer.
Truck parts Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Mark,, What a great job on the Dodge .Keep up the outstanding work.
MarkJ Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 Thanks guys. I guess I will be doing a Ford next year. Rusty went from a Ford Blue Deuce to a Dodge and now Brad will be going back to a Ford. Just to think Brad will be in the same camp with Edwards irks me. I bet Brad's not to happy with the move since his dad always drove Dodges during his ARCA career.
Hondo Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) This really turned out great, Mark. I enjoyed (and appreciate) the build-up info & pics. This one's special & cool !! Edited March 7, 2012 by Hondo
