shucky Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Dr. Cranky ... this is one of the coolest paint jobs that I've seen yet. Very creative and far out (literally!) Awesome job Virgil.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Thank you, everyone. Today the clear goes on, so stay tuned in for more . . . I really appreciate the support. Rob, if I painted 1:1 vehicles I would have already lost my mind!
gilsdropshop1 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 love the van looking far out Doc.here is one i did a few years back going to build me another one or two gotta love them!! keep them pics coming sir!!
Dr. Cranky Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Oh yeah, Gil, that's a beauty. I want to lower mine like that too. We'll see how it goes. The clear is drying and next up is some buffing and polishing. Stay tuned in for more.
Trans Am Erik Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Amazing paint work Doc! Space Truckin sure fits this one. I'd call it Excellsior
Dr. Cranky Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 Thanks, Erik. Stay tuned in for more progress.
Joe Handley Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 If you're going to call it the Bong van, you may need to pull a scale steam engine apart for the smoker unit
Dr. Cranky Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 LOL, I think after you see what it looks like now it might just be better to call it the SPACE CADET VAN or something like that. Stay tuned in for some more progress.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 Here's some progress. This one fought me here and there but I think it turned out pretty well, including all the last minute details which include ghosted skulls on the sides (they appear as you move around it in the sun, although I don't think the pictures will show it . . .) Now that it's in clear and buffed, I can turn my attention to the chassis and the rest of the build. I'd like to see this one finished soon. Enjoy: Different set of wheels . . . I still like the Duo Tones from Hoppin' Hydros . . .
John Teresi Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Dr. .........gotta be one of your best paint jobs yet!.......... .
Dr. Cranky Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 Thanks, John. I appreciate the kind words. We are always trying . . . you know, that's what painting is all about. The best paint job is always the NEXT. Here's a video I hope some of this bling shows through better:
rv1963 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Yep that is awsome wish i could see those ghost skulls.
Joe Handley Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Anybody elses brain just implode at the sight of this van?
crazyjim Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 SHINY :) RULES! Forget about the rusty, crusty stuff, doc.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 LOL, thanks everyone. Jim, not making any promises about the rusty stuff. You know it runs in my blood too! Mike, thanks for bringing out more of the bling with your photo magic . . . More soon, stay tuned in. Have a great weekend, folks.
Ira Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) FANTASTIC "EYE CANDY" DR.! I like the wire wheels too... Edited March 9, 2012 by Ira
Joe Handley Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) Something just crossed my mind........If that was a real van, Cranky's paint job would cost more than I made in the last couple years! Edited March 10, 2012 by Joe Handley
hotrod59f100 Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Wow Dr I wish I had the skills to paint like that . It looks vary nice.
