Steven7319 Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 hi everybody. this is my first attempt at a beat up car. any feedback would be great.
trogdor Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I went to school with friends who had VW's very much like that. Nice job and welcome to the forum.
Sam Cates Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 LOVE IT!!!!! It looks almost like mine! Very nice job with the rust and body panels, it looks extremely convincing. Almost thought it was a 1:1 before I took a better look at the photos!
Danno Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 That's most excellent!! Great job ... but just one question: However did those wheels and tires escape the ravages of time? Very convincing. = That's praise, Jim.
GeeBee Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Very nice work, are you going to build another to replicate this one after it's been restored ???
jdmfan Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Look real good . cant believe this is your first attempt at a beat up car. great job you nailed it from what i see
kruleworld Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 very well done. i thought it was a 1:1 bug which is what we aim for.
The70judgeman Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Very impressive on the details and weathering. I'm liking it.
LAone Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 first, welcome to the forum. second, wow that is a great looking beat up bug. still see some like that around here. very nice work on the weathering. i got a kick out of the flower decal on the donor door.
Agent G Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Feedback? How about you tell us what you did? I thought I was looking at the real car you were planning to build a scale model of. G
Jairus Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 You know... shooting pictures into the sun is generally not suggested. But you really pulled it off here as it tends to convince the eye that this is actually a full size VW. Very impressive use of "Solar flair" and glare. Of course the bug is quite nice too, weathering and all. (I gotta try that) Welcome to MCM forums!
RANDY L Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 how did you get a picture of my bug, mine sits a little lower Randy Ludi
jerseyjunker1 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 by jove i think hes got it. super job great attention to detail. and thats it. your hooked. once rust gets in your blood you bleed orange.lol
Sixties Sam Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Great weathering, and nice details! The dent in the roof, broken headlight cover, and rust holes in the left rear fender really add realism to it. The photos look very real! Sam
Foxer Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 That's a really thoughtful weathering job ... very much like it happens in 1:1. The dents are especially well done! I had a '53 the same color ... it was just slightly less weathered..
jeffs396 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Wow Steven, AWESOME job! Looks real as the others have said! Oh, and WELCOME!
Steven7319 Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Wow thanks for the great feed back guys. I'm starting my revell samba bus this weekend, but oh dear the roof is so badly warped it's unreal. Great fun to come then.
randx0 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 That is a very well detailed and weathered VW. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
David G. Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Top knotch work there! A great way to start with the MCM Forum, welcome. David G.
surfjunke Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) Great build there & welcome to the forum. Beautiful weathering & fine attension to the details. That looks a lot like my old bug I had out in Washington back in the !980's Edited March 15, 2012 by surfjunke
Mr.Zombie Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) Does not look like the first try. It is awesome. Very realistic. More! Edited March 15, 2012 by Mr.Zombie
Chuck Most Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 That's most excellent!! Great job ... but just one question: However did those wheels and tires escape the ravages of time? Very convincing. = That's praise, Jim. New tires on a recently aquired project? Love the way it looks. The weathering is great, and the way it is photographed makes it look real, like an photo you'd see of a real one for sale on Craigslist or in an Auto Swapper.
