i never build lowriders but the recent issue of contest cars inspired me to build this. i had a set of baby d'z in my stash (i was at the LHS and they were screeming at me to buy them) and an old little red wagon that was partially built and probably was going to sit in the box forever. so after doing a spring under i got it as low as i could without major modifications. here is where im at so far.

I usually do not care for how the smaller wheels that the lowrider enthusiasts like, because they often end up on much larger cars and look way too tiny in larger wheel wells.

However those look right at home in those wheel wells. So far so good. I'd like to see it a bit lower, and some wild paint.

ya, i would of liked to have lowered it a bit more but that would have required it to be channeled and that was just way more work than i wanted to get myself into. as far as the paint goes, i was just going to do a solid color but since you mentioned it this might just be the perfect opportunity to try a pannel job.

This should be a great project to keep an eye on.

I love Low... My real car is a 97 Dodge Ram lowered 9" in the rear and 7" in the front with airbags all around. It doesn't quite lay frame but when it is down it is only a couple of inches off the pavement.

I don't particularly care for the small wheels on some low riders but that is a look to go for. My preference is larger wheels and tires stuffed way up in the wheelwells but this should still be a great build.

Yes, the Dr is right... That is a great canvas for paint.

Keep it up.

I too love this kit...so many possibilities. I did a curbside JF A100 van with baby d's about 10 years ago. They're a natural under these things with the limited wheelwell space. Your stance is right on the money.

I'm going the other way with my current version (stalled 'til I get another kit to steal parts from, though). Pics in my fotki if you care to peek.

What engine are you going to use ? Hemi - 340 - slant six ? Truck sits just right, and the wheels do look good.

well its been a while but have made some progress. engine and chassis is done and body is painted...still needs clear coat. didnt turn out too bad for my first panel job. i used testors one coat lacquers...diamond dust, inca gold, and purplicious. here is what i have. pics are a bit out of order but here is the paint process.
