CadillacPat Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Somehow I don't really think that people who smoke crack are susceptible to public service announcements. CadillacPat
martinfan5 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I just did a real quick search, the cheapest Lindberg chevelle is going for $16 plus shipping on ebay, that seller is just nuts, I think I am going to ask why he wants so much for his kit
mikemodeler Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I have a couple of those in my stash targeted to sell, at that price I may have a small fortune sitting in my garage! As P.T. Barnum was fond of saying...."There's a sucker born every minute"
Austin T Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Look at his completed listings in model cars!HOLY ###### there some stupid people out there.
george 53 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 i LOVE 66 Chevelles, I got at least 6 of them still packaged and two built ones. Wonder if someone'll give me 100 bucks apeice for 'em! Heck, I'd even pay shipping too. Hope they don't find out they're comming back at a more reasonable price!!!!

Dr. Cranky Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I think some people just love to go fishing . . . . for suckers or compulsive buyers. Ebay is full of them.
MrObsessive Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Interesting that he has another one listed for less than half the price! The first one listed has a different kit # though.......... What were the differences between the two if any?? Not to mention all of his kit prices are on the high side IMO. We'll see if he gets what he wants.......
camaroman Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) I offered him 14.99... lets see if he bites... Edited April 9, 2012 by camaroman
Brizio Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) That's crazy! Edited April 9, 2012 by Brizio

Having both kits, I don't believe there is a difference Bill, other than the issue date. Like I stated earlier, if these kits are worth that much I may have hit the lottery!
Rob Hall Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) Maybe the seller is one of those morons that think because the car is a 1966 the kit is from 1966. And what's up w/ the picture of the box art turned sideways? Edited April 9, 2012 by Rob Hall
Jon Cole Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) I don't understand. He is selling it for $24.75, about what the average model kit is selling for at my LHS. Plus, iirc, he includes free shipping. On top of that, isn't Lindberg either stagnant, if not outright out of business? If you had that kit to sell, what would you honestly sell it for? As for me, I don't FeeBay, so I'm just curious. Everyone wants a deal... until they become the seller. And who can blame them? Edited April 9, 2012 by Jon Cole

As for me, I don't FeeBay, so I'm just curious. Everyone wants a deal... until they become the seller. And who can blame them? Jon, I have two of those kits I plan to sell and would not think of taking less than $10 for them but I am realistic to know that they are worth probably no more than $15-20 , max. I know of a couple of hobby shops that I could pick up the latest version of the kit (gray car on box) and they sell them for $18-20. Would I rather get $99 for them instead? Sure, but I would be hesitant to sell them at that price as I know I would be ripping someone off. I agree that if he gets $24.95 for that kit and includes shipping, then he is really only getting $15-17 for the kit itself.
Jon Cole Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Ninety nine dollars?! YIKES! No wonder this topic exists! Wish... the op had mentioned that price, would have spared some confusion. Oh well, no biggie!
Wheels Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Check out the rest of his models! At those prices, they'll never sell to anyone will half a brain! Dale Earnhardt models at a good price though! http://www.ebay.com/sch/Toys-Hobbies-/220/i.html?item=200738577113&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&_sac=1&hash=item2ebcf39ad9&_ssn=codyp2000

Ron Hamilton Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 At $6 to $11 for Priority Mail Shipping, How much is he actually making on the kit? And yes the price is higher than what I would sell or buy it for, even considering the "free" shipping. Like anything else, do your homework, and you will not overpay.
Austin T Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Guys I know why his prices are so high,He must have just bought the molds for the kits and needs to make back his money!
Rob Hall Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Guys I know why his prices are so high,He must have just bought the molds for the kits and needs to make back his money! Looking at his other auctions, he sells mostly sports cards.. he probably has no clue about model kits or model kit pricing and just makes up random numbers.

Or maybe he saw the guy selling old kits piecemeal and figured if a set of wheels and tires is worth $25, then the whole kit has to be worth $100!
