mcandela Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Well,to say that I have only one would be a lie. But, These are my favorites, hope You like.
deja-view Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) Mike; I like what you've done with those. How did you make the hood louvres on the vette? Ken, Rob, and Ray; Thanks so much. It is my wife's favorite. This is one of 4 or 5 models I used to get through a nasty divorce and years of fighting for custody of my kids. They were a great distraction as I got my head back into something I loved doing but hadn't been able to for quite awhile. I'll post up some pics of the other if it's ok (they are equal in importance to my re-entry into serious building). I wish I had known of some of the available parts, tools, and techniques that were coming available at the time. But, even though they al have "mistakes" or things that I could have done better, at least I finished them. Edited April 30, 2012 by deja-view
Jeff Johnston Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 This is the favorite model I have mainly because its an exact replica of my dream car...
Agent G Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) I guess this has to be my favorite. It was featured in "that other mag" about 1999, in fact it was in Terry Jesse's last column. Simple, direct and to the point. Krylon white finish, and all the decals except the license plate were generated in my computer. I made the light bar from toothbrush handles. martinfan5 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Chrysler Concord correct?, I have to say the light bar looks really cool, what a neat way to make it, very creative.
Danno Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 So, you're saying that featuring yer model resulted in the demise of Terry's column? Just trying to understand here ...
martinfan5 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 What about tuner style, with a wing and a exhaust tip, that is a Impreza part of the Colorado State Police street racing program
Agent G Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 This Concorde was part of a series of kits released called "street racers" or some such. This came with a wing the size of a 737, which was duly discarded. It was molded in purple and had enormous chrome wheels. I left the ground effects intact as it's a one off "maybe" car. I scanned the PD image from department letterhead, and colorized it prior to printing. This was in the academy library for years and the chief we had at the time liked the markings better than what was on the real cars. Come to think, it might have been prior to '99, more like '95-'96. Yes Danno I killed Mr. Jesse's career, much like I killed my own time after time........................... G
deja-view Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Here's a build from that same period (1990-95). It has won some awards, including "Best Testor's" model at a sponsored show. Also got snubbed at GSL because it was classed as a "custom". I tried to keep this one simple with good paint, some subtle detailing, and a very low-key period theme. The two tone grape pearl and black was a tough job for me, but my daughter insisted. The wheels seemed so much better than the weird originals. The original intricate suspension pieces have been replaced by aluminum rod/tubing. The headlight covers and windows are tinted with real film. The "Countach" lettering under the windshield sun shield took a bit of doing. The engine has a fair amount of photoetch or scratch details, and the big airboxes have been replaced by handmade, chrome, flared intake funnels. Otherwise the engine compartment is true to real Lambos of the time. The exhaust is chrome antenna tubing. The interior is super clean....buuuuut....t does need a couple of things, though. It's too bland. I need to add "patina", or at least some dark accent to the seats, but now that they are installed how do I do it without "dirtying up" the interior? jbwelda Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 wow that is super! really nice finish too! for your seats since your doors open you might try flowing a wash of "the detailer" in brown on and letting it dry, then wiping most off with a clean moist q-tip. the stuff is water soluable so if it is too much you can just clean it up good with a bit of water on a qtip.

I remember that unit ... thought it was killa then, think it is still killa now. Ken, that is undoubtedly the very nicest Lambo model I've ever seen! Most excellent. You know how them GSL boys can be.
mcandela Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Mike; I like what you've done with those. How did you make the hood louvres on the vette? They came like that. It's a original 1970's Tom Daniels Vette from Monogram. Louvers also came for the top, back window and the side vents. I just painted them with some flat black spray and duplicolor clear.
caine440 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) I have wanted to build this one for a long time but the paint scheme and hood scoop scared me off till this year. Edited May 1, 2012 by caine440

mrmike Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 If anyone recognizes the man in my avatar, they would know that it is the late actor Robert Urich in one of his greatest roles, as the late author Robert B. Parker's Spenser of Spenser For Hire. I spent a lot of time researching Spenser's '65 Mustang, especially since there is very little known about the car so my model is based on the first season version which happens to be my favorite. I used the Revell '66 Mustang 2+2 for my build which is painted with MCW Ivy Green Metallic lacquer. This is my favorite model.
Jared Roach Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Mine is the revell 72 olds I built. I opened up and hinged all the parts and overall it is my favorite build. More here: http://s373.photobuc...0olds%20custom/
BOSWELL891 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 That cutlass looks great Jared I'm building one right now for the gearz contest I hope mine looks as good as yours
