prostockmania Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 can someone explain to me why the crazy price on this ended ebay auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item2ebd30c692&item=200742586002&nma=true&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&si=GBsIsfiN519bbKqxMXHhnLA5FGg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
JamesW Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) Umm, yeah, I'd like an answer to that too. That's ridiculous. Either way, I bet the seller is VERY happy. Edited May 18, 2012 by JamesW
prostockmania Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) yeah, especailly when others ended within a couple days before and after around 15.00, I wonder if someone thought it was a real truck, or probably a kid, lmao. Edited May 18, 2012 by prostockmania
Scuderia Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 lol this literally made me bust out aloud. That's funny
JamesW Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 It honestly makes me wanna list some of my kits. There's obviously at least ONE person out there dumb enough to pay an outragous amount for a somewhat readily available kit.
martinfan5 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Wow, did the buyer not see this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEALED-INSIDE-AMT-ERTL-1972-CHEVROLET-FLEETSIDE-1-25-72-Chevy-Cheyenne-Truck-/251064160009?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a74970f09
mopar01lee Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 thats just plain stupid ,, they could of got two or more vintage kits for that price.. totally insane.....
Harry P. Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 There's no explaining ebay prices. It all depends on who's bidding, how bad they want it, and how crazy the bidders are!
Guest Johnny Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Wife's brother-in-law used to have stuff on his store get bid up like that and 99.99999999% of the time they don't pay for it.
Modlbldr Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Funny thing is that there was 36 bids on it. I'd be interested to see the bid history. Later-
Guest Johnny Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 4 different bidders and two with the majority of bids.
Guest Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 The winning bidder has only bought twenty-seven items. Looks like he was in a bidding war with someone with even less experience than him. Purely a case of inexperience at bidding and knowlege of models.
moparmagiclives Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Isn't it against ebays rule to bid up your own stuff ?? What's the word for that?
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 The weird thing is on the same page another model of the same type with different box art is buy it now for $70. The problem with this is that some bozo will think that all of his stuff can be valued at theses silly prices. Also as it was said with the seller really get this price? Personally if I was going to sell I will find a local show to sell. The fees for ebay are too much and there is too much chance for fraud the way things are set up. bobthehobbyguy
mikemodeler Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I just sold that kit to FatBrian for $10, I better call him and tell him he owes me $330!
rel14 Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I just sold that kit to FatBrian for $10, I better call him and tell him he owes me $330! LOL, you just did yourself..LOL
Fat Brian Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I just sold that kit to FatBrian for $10, I better call him and tell him he owes me $330! I was just about to post that I had just bought that kit for about ten bucks, thats the chance you take not posting it on ebay.
Austin T Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Man my grand pa has 4 of those kits mint in the box,I'm set for life!
Hedgehog Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I think those two bidders were just prancking each other and at the end the winner won't pay for the car. Besides this, I think no matter how much you want one of these kits youve got to use your brain and realize that you can buy for a lower price.
