uncle potts Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 ok, I admit I'm a little slow, but I reread your opening post three times, can't figure out how you did that wood grain. It looks great! Can you give us a more indepth description of your methods. I have always liked woody's, but could never get the wood to look right. Thank you for sharing this project with us.
Thor Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Thanks guys This is first try at doing something like this, I was at a model expo earlier this year where the guy who make the woody decals was. I got the chance to talk to him alot about his stuff. i bought some of his decal sheets and went home and started right away, inspired by his work a link to his site with some info and pictures. http://www.uschivdr.com/products/wgw-1-woody-special/

TooOld Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 When I first started looking at your car I thought " Wow , this is looking good ! " . Then I got to the wood grain and I couldn't believe it ! Awesome job !
The70judgeman Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Now that's impressive work. Can't wait to see the final result.
surfjunke Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 WOW! beautiful finish! love the woodgrain! Thank you for the link to the woody sight. I would really like to purchase those decals.
Thor Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Thank you for very nice comments Yes the woodpanels is decals, they are tranparent so you have to do some preshading before putting them on. The framing is just oil color (burnt sienna i think) done with a chisel type paintbrush. Then some clear orange here and there to create some variations(is it spelled right?) This my first try at this so this is a learning project. I have more woody`s i`d like to build: 1941 Ford, 1948 ford, 1953 ford and 1960 Mercury Colony Park
Steven Zimmerman Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 WOW !...I was reading this and as I scrolled down, I thought 'ok, ok, ok; then I got hit with the wood pics and "WHAM"....great job !
