This is a project I have been wanting to do for some time. Like so many builds, the more you research the more confusing and blurred the big picture becomes. With that in mind, this is not a replica, it will be my rendition of John Greenwood's Corvette. Here is some of the reference I will use.

I started with Revell kit, using a set of extra fender flares from one kit for the front fenders. I hope to make a set of the fixed head lights and I have raised the wiper door as seen on the racer. Here is what I have so far....

I'll be following this one as it and the Rebel one are on the long list to the bench. Like you say, the more research you do, the more questions you have... I will be interested in how you tackle the headlights and what wheels you plan to use. Flares look great!

I want to see how you do the headlights, too. I was excited to find the plexiglass headlight cover, in the kit, but dissappointed to see they had decals for headlights.

Competition vehicles are one of those areas where the deeper you dig the more you discover that there isn't just one correct way to build the subject. These things changed on a event to event basis so exact replicas are very difficult, but it looks like you have a good start.

Thanks guys. I will be using the kit suppied decals, they are made be Cartograf, and I'm told they are very nice.

I'll be interested t see how I actual do the quad (Cibie) lights as well!

I purchased a set of Minilites in resin from febay. I'm trying different tire combos and will show those later.

My goal is to make a respectable resemblance of the 1:1 race car.

Thanks again for the interest. This forum inspires me to do the best I can do.

This is what I came up with for the lights. Boxed in the openings with styrene and robbed the lights from a Revell Tweety Pie kit.

The clear light covers really blur the lights but it looks a lot better than the decals. Also pictured are the wheels I'll be using.

I might try to deepen one pair for the rear wheels. Maybe?

After some trial and error, I discovered the head lights where so distorted by the covers, I just went wit the decals. OH YEA- Decals! If I had left the body stock and left the flares off the decals would have been easier.

But as it was I had to cut them quite a bit to lay flat to the body. I decided to give it the raced look, to help hide a few of the blemishes. I think it will do fine.

Still have a few details to add to the body, Thanks for looking.

Making some progresshere, mock up of chassis and body . These picture really show how badly the decals fit the altered fender flairs. I would not recommend the flairs to anyong building this model. The Decals are made to fit the stock fenders. The road grime/raced look helps hide some imperfections and I really like the way it is turning out. Thanks for looking...
