I build outside in my dads shed,(keep in mind im 12 and dont get my own shed) and the shed isnt air-conditioned. I go out there for 5 minutes and in this New Mexico heat, I'm sweating by the gallons! I will have to build when it gets dark, or when its raining or something. So my builds will be slow. I have about 5 hours of building time a day if I do that. I cant air condition the shed so its just way too hot. So do many of you guys take "SUmmer Vacations" and wait to build during winter?

I live in Az. so I know about summer heat. While I do build inside my air conditioned house I do my painting out in my garage. If spraying lacquer the paint can actually start to dry before it even hits what I am painting. My solution for this is to paint early in the morning. I paint between 6 and 8 am. The good thing is that the paint will "bake" if left in the garage.

I'm in an old house in central Florida and my upstairs ( where I build ) air conditioning doesnt cut it in the summer months, except for early a.m. and rainy days. So I dont build as much as I'd like in the summer . But it was almost the same when I lived in Indiana because I chose to pursue as much outdoor activity in the summer due to the winters that were so long and crappy. I miss "snow days", hours and hours of building with the oldies station on and a hot cup of coffee.......

I'm in AZ and air conditioned, but in the summer I tend to spend my weekend free time when I'm in town in the pool or watching racing on TV more than modeling...

our summer temps here can get up to about 110deg, higher sometimes. so its not as bad as NM or AZ, but it is hot enough to not feel comfy to build. i now build in the garage and well it stays warm even at night. yesterday it was 94deg during the day, at 1am in morning the garage was still around 78deg or so...

im gonna have to tough it out i guess if i want to get some projects done...lols put a fan in there something...lols

I have it made. We put a 20' x 40' steel building and I took 10' x 20' of it for a hobby room. The whole building insulated and in the hobby portion I have a ceiling fan and AC/heat unit. Too hot? I turn on the air. Too cold? Switch the unit to heat. I love spoiling myself.

Here in sunny VT the summers are too short, I have lots of yardwork/outside stuff to do when the weather allows. I'll have plenty of time when it's dark at 4:30pm and 10 degrees out for building B)

Gee, it's only 95 here today... and supposed to be 97-98 tomorrow. And with that lovely midwest humidity on top of it... :o

The area where my nearest weather station is, the temp is 109, with humidity at 6%, I would rather have the heat then humidity any day.

The humidity today was 70%. Yeow! You can go outside, sit under a tree and break a sweat without even moving.

So humid, we been swatting fish instead of flies!

Almost as bad here

With Both the Ocean & the Chesapeake to draw from, Humidity is Unbearable Most of the summer

Had a bit of a reprieve yesterday & today though.

Only just over 77 for a high, and cloudy.

Slight chance of showers.

July/August temps coming in another day or two though.

Hey Lane, is there a reason you do all your building outside? I understand you have to spray outside but could you build inside if you had a place to do it? Maybe you could talk your parents into buying you a small desk or a large folding tv tray to do most of your work inside, you can always tell them it's cheaper than taking you to the hospital with a heat stroke.

One word comes to mind, miserable, there are reasons why I stay living here in the oven, and that is one of them, I can take the dry heat here vs the heat plus high humidity

What Brian said.

107 here today, 5% humidity, and I'm building in the kitchen. Painting occurs early morning or late evening.

I do not miss humidity.

G, your name was brought up at this past club meeting ;)

Do not believe anything you heard, I was not there, it must have been someone who looks like me. Oh and all that bad stuff happened after I left.

<_<
