mikelo Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I like it. I had that idea when I swapped the back of the Cougar to put on a 74 Mustang. The 70 back looks a lot better. Nice factory phantom. Mike

geemoney Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Nice conversion. Ford did a show car along the same lines, called El Gato. this is much like the first mach 1 show car, remember the AMT iron horse? love it! i too, never saw this!
Pat Minarick Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 this is much like the first mach 1 show car, remember the AMT iron horse? love it! i too, never saw this! I think I might build this sometime!
nemlio65 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Does the El Gato have Apache wheels? ..A couple of cool cats
Danno Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Wow. How did I miss this before? Beautiful concept, beautiful execution - makes it look so real!
Harry P. Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Looks good, but there's a reason Ford never built it that way. The Cougar was supposed to be more "upscale" than Mustang (since it was sold as a Mercury and not a Ford), therefore the more "formal" roofline on the Cougar.
JTalmage Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I actually bought some Mustang II parts off of a guy that was building one of these in 1:1 form... very slowly lol. But it was going pretty well. Definitely an interesting swap.

Teddy J. Tannehill Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I have always liked Cougars and Mustangs. Yours gives us the best of both...I also like the under the hood situation...I am building a Cobra Jet for a project...I like your detail ideas.
