I was/am needing some wheels and tires for my next project. Looking for a set of big and littles with a 5 spoke American type wheel. So anyway, I go to ebay like I do quite often. A search of wheels and tires gave me a bunch of listings. Being as I did not want to wait for an auction I pulled up just the Buy It Now listings. Man was I surprised. There are guys asking 19.99 and 24.99 and there was even one listing for a set for over 50.00. Keep in mind these are for a 1/25 scale build. I can buy a kit in many cases for less they want for 4 wheels and tires. I have to wonder if there is anyone who actually pays these prices. The sellers are free to charge what they want but they won't get any of my dollars. Anybody here ever pay these high prices for something ?

Nope! I am with with you on the kit vs. parts thing.

FYI, if you contact Casey via PM, he has some nice five spokes that just may be what you are looking for.

Good Luck!

I saw prices like that, or probably listed by the same seller, when I was searching some Jeep parts. Like you said, the seller can put any price he want, but he will not have my $.

I wouldn't pay that much. You can usually get Pegasus wheels/tires for around $7.00 from Hobbylinc.

Those sellers must have an " automatic relist " setting for their auctions . The same wheels and parts have been listed for as long as I can remember ! If they do sell anything , it's not very often . There are a couple of sellers I have bought some very nice resin wheels from for $5.99 a set .

I am guessing that seller is PJ Toys?

Don't recall who the seller was. A buddy says he thinks he has a set. If not I will get that 32, it has some beauties and are just what I am looking for. I guess once in a while someone must want the parts bad enough to pay those prices but like I said before....... it won't be this guy.

"some people are nuts!" I resemble that remark.

50 bucks for a set wheels and tires better come hand delivered by jessica alba.

Obviously you saw the listings by Pee-Jays diecast vintage car shop thingie and garbage stuff. Ugh, he gives us all a bad name. If youre looking for the Americans from the many 32 Ford kits, post it under wanted. PeeJay has been discussed in several forums, with not much good to say.

That seems to be a new trend on Ebay. Taking kits, and selling them a few pieces at a time. I hope nobody is foolish enough to pay those prices when they can usually buy the entire kit for the same price or a couple bucks more! Just another sad example of greed ruining the world!

If it were only that cut and dried. In all fairness, many large parts lots come with partial kits and that's the best way to sell them. Other times, parts may have been removed for a project and only pieces, useable and desirable, remain. Another instance may be when a kit doesn't sell as a whole. As an example, a few months ago I listed a Coddington '32 Ford Coupe for $7.95. After relisting 3 times and with no bids, I decided to list the parts individually. The Wheels and Tires started at $1.95, the Body and Fenders at $2.95, and other miscellaneous parts at $1.95. In short, the Tires received several bids and went for over $9.00, the Body for $6 or $7.00. I'm not sure I completely understand the Buyers' reasoning behind such things, but I imagine they would rather get just the parts they need and save only a few dollars than have unneeded parts.

That's not to say people don't break kits up and try to make a higher profit, but it should be remembered that not all do.

yes some people actually pay those prices. i checked the feedback of one seller who goes by pj-toys and found several ebayers who purchased model stuff from him at those inflated prices. every time i come across one these auctions i want to ask that seller if they are high on crack.

Same here, the funny part is I have seen the same kits and parts that have been listed for close to a year now, you would think that might tell him something

I wasn't aware that some break up full kits to piece them out. WOW What balls man. This is lending credence to my issues with kit wheels and tires. Oh, I haven't expressed myself here. I have had several kits that have the worlds most awful tire and wheel combinations. They dont fit on the wheels!. They'er either too big or too small. I wish that someone would make resin copies of them as a standard after market item for a reasonable cost. The $20.00-$25.00 dollar sets are rediculous, just for two tires or two wheels! I mean really!. I must get to making my own. DAMM
