migace Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I just completed this box stock. I live in Indianapolis, been modeling like most of all you, since I could remember. Recently I really have been focusing on build and paint quality, adding detail as my skills get better. Here is a recent effort I just completed. Your comments are welcome! This 1965 car will be my tow car for another 65 Malibu Wagon I have that I am stripping down and rebuilding into a drag car. I also am going to use the 1976 MPC Caprice reissue kit trailer as well. So I am going to have a period type set up with all the fixins', like tools, ramps etc, more posts to come. I am taking a break from my Malibu's and starting on a 1971 Thunderbird right now that I am finalizing a paint scheme on.
Deathgoblin Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Very nice work! With some of your pics, it looks like a real car. Good job!
route66modeler Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 nice work, I really like wagons! what brand of paint did you use and the color? Thanks,Steve
migace Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 After years of frustration, I really only use dupli color. I will post the color code tonight. I like dupli color becuase not only does it lay great but Dupli uses GM, Ford, Chrysler, and some foreign car's paint codes. The color was a metallic blue aqua of some sort. the interior was shot with a lighter blue from dupli as well. Detail painting I use model master or taymia water based acrylics. And of course my BMF skills are getting better as well.
TooOld Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Now that is a really nice looking wagon ! Your BMF is definitely A + .
Harold Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 A great looking wagon. I like the everyday, dog dish hubcap look.
Bluemiles22 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Nice job looks great! My next 2 or 3 builds are gonna be completely box stock as well. Just to concentrate on the quality of the build first and not worry about adding all the aftermarket stuff.
bbowser Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Excellent job. We need more longroofs, especially base models. I really like it a lot!
migace Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Thank You Thank You All! I am going to picture up more that I have. I did a 62 Catalina I think you all will like, and when I finish the Drag car I will post it!
slusher Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Sharp and excellent color and nice touch on the hubcaps....Slusher
Dominik Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Nice build and a part of "every day seen stationwagon". Well done!
Draggon Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 That turned out very nice. I love that color! Are the wheels from the Joker/Goon car? Thats a pretty deep offset, but I like it.

Yes you got it Monaco parts. I will probably update when i get some resin peices. but it does the look i like, and the deeper the dish the better for me ; )
cartpix Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I'm a major long roof junkie, so I'm loving this one. I like your idea of a tow car for another wagon. I may do that with a 65 wagon & a 65 2 door wagon resin body I have. Jeff
migace Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 The reissue kit comes with a top for the "crew wagon" version I will paint body color and will hold some spare slicks
