Perfectionism. When I have a 9/10ths model, and then something turns out "perfect" is flummoxes me, and sends me back to the bench.

For a while it was PC games, but that monkey is dead. Like Glenn, perfectionism slows me down. When it's not coming out right or I can't find seats to fit my theme. Having a good place to paint right now is a big problem, I leaves me with just doing rat rods and weathered rides. At least 5 models on hold 90% done until I get a place to lay down the glossy.

Can't get away from the computer....Hard going down and climbing stairs.....Those are probably the main reasons of not building much. Stroke kinda worked the mind

some, not only the stairs thing....Like someone earlier said, life in general...

Kid 1 through 3, wife (just 1) ,job (s) , full size projects, my 18' Rienel, baseball, football and gymnastic practise (non of them are for me) summer in general. I've been trying to get this pin stripe biz going, oh yeah, and my wife.

Work. I work in a camp 18hrs from home , up north. gone for a week and home for a week. not really enough time to get into a build.

Work.

I waste 11 hours building time every day going to work, working and then coming home.

I feel like I haven't been back in it long enough and I don't have all the supplies I could use.. I always try to jump overboard into a kit and my skills don't really allow me to keep up and I cant keep up and make progress and I put them back in the box and move on.

What slows down my builds, is parts. Many, Many times there are parts missing, and usually they are very hard to find from Finland. Sometimes the only way is to buy completely new kit, what is not so simple either, since I don't have so much money to spend on these, as some of you guys. And the kits are more expensive in here, too.

Other thing what slows me down, is polishing the paint job. It's boring and there's big change to screw the whole paint job.

There might be other things too, but they just didn't come up to my mind.

i used to collect model railroading magazines from the 40's & 50's. there were great articles about men who built scale steam engines from brass in little apartments on their kitchen tables. a hobby is supposed to be a pleasureable pastime, not a second job. if you're looking at it as an obligation, maybe it's time to take a break or try something different. and it's not about how much $$$ can be spent on aftermarket goodies, but imagination & innovation. see it in your mind, and find a way to make it come alive.

What slows down my builds is running out o surplies. And trying to igure what name to give it because I build mostly drag cars.

Vacations always break my routine unless I take a model with me. We took a week off to go to Wisconsin a week ago. for example, I didn't take a model to work on and now I haven't returned to the bench since. Now I feel like I'm in a slump period. " I'm retired, I don't need vacations," I keep telling her. Other than that I would say engine detail always slows me down. I haven't done any brake lines yet like some of you.
