And I can completely agree with that, good reasons to want them separate

Don't want the doggies chewing on model parts (which has happened before). :)

Ah yes, I remember those days when I was a kid, and my black lab would chew on , well any thing he could get his mouth on, models, remotes , game controllers , video games, and so on

And if you have a paint booth in the hobby room, last thing you want is to have dog hair, or to accidentally paint the dog

Exactly...I have an MPC '68 Coronet hood that was mint, but now has tiny tooth marks in it from where the Yorkie carried it around for a while, and I find white hairs (from the Westie) on things all the time..

Paint jobs just dont look good with dog hair in them , or tooth marks

To accommodate my space at the moment, I'm in the process of designing a combination wall unit for my bedroom which will be floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with a fold-out work area in part of it. The kits might need to stay downstairs mostly, but I'll at least have someplace to build in peace, quiet and relative lack of disturbance.

If my parents do in fact follow through to move back to Greater Boston and let me take over the house and payments (assuming my situation improves to the point where I can do it,) my bedroom will become my hobby room and "clean shop," with my drafting board and library.

Sinice l have a small man cave its fun to dream. l wish l ha a very large one with the case for display built in the wall so they are flush. some neon car signs, pool table, ms pac man arcade game with about 4 others and my own older pepsi vending machine. that would be cool with a jukenox..large flat screen tv.....might slow the building down

great time for this post. i am in the process of building my, well, lets just say "car cave" as we type. its a 16'x17' unfinished room in the basement. that should be big enough for me and hopefully my 2 boys to build. been drawing up plans forever (actually we built the house 12 years ago) and are in the final stages. everything i have collected for it has been free (yea, i garbage pick) or garage sale items. i have 2 heavy metal desks, a flat file, a drafting table and a 3'x6' bench. there will be no big screen or computer (takes away from precious building time). only my old fisher reciever, techniques turntable and jensen speakers will be in there to play my metal and 80's hair band music. got a crapload of wood from work to expand the working area of the desks and build shelving. i will have a library, work area, paint area all in the same room. plenty of mags, hot wheels and models. i look forward to hearing from you guys on this subject as i go along with the transformation. it wont be pretty, hehe, maybe i should call it my "rat-cave"

really...... "rat-cave" ...... sometimes i wonder ....

I want one I don't have to share.

I don't mind sharing with people, but my room is slowly turning into a storage area!

On another forum I saw pictures from someone who had acquired an older mobile home and had put it on his property and was remodeling the interior to be his model cave.Quite a project but it seemed to be the ideal setup-working space, bathroom, fridge, display cabinets.I'd do the same for my ideal model cave if I had the land, money, and time.

That sound sawesome,Tony, could you get a link,I'd like to see that too, give me idears for setting my shed up maybe :D

Back to the question,I've been thinking about a proper answer (not quoting someone and agreeing with)....I would have to say my own workshop, but finished (meaning, the interior is bare steel,"unfinished") with electrics ran and insulation heat and a/c....usable more than just early mornings (which I don't do...I'm a night owl) or late eves. Everything else (big screen, fridge, etc, etc) would be secondary to me since I'm only a few steps from the back door anyways....ok,maybe a big screen in the living room of the trailer, move the 42" flatscreen from there to the shed with cable, but everything else would destract me from building ;):P

Ok, picture this, a large white room, very well lit. An air ride chair with an air cushion seat that is heated. The chair itself swivels and is motorized. There's a cold beverage dispenser with water, sodas and iced tea, a food dispenser that has all kinds of quick snack foods. At one end of the room is a vacuum sealed, enclosed paint booth with down draft. At the bench there are motorized racks that hold all your paints so that with a push of a button you can search endless colors. An xacto knife blade dispenser that spits out a perfect blade whenever you need one. On one side of the room, there's a giant flat screen tv that doubles as a computer monitor. A sound systems that rivals any movie theater. Along another wall is a full miniature machine shop with a lathe, milling machine various size brakes, drill press, CNC milling machine and a Stereo Lithography reproduction machine. A beautiful brunette that pops in and says..."honey can I give you a back rub?" then hands you the latest kit that has been rumoured to be released but nobody knows for sure yet and they she tells you she added two more to the kit warehouse so you could have extras. She then hands you a home cooked meal and immediatly leaves the room so you can work in silence. Wait........what were we talking about again?
