The Crysler Turbine cars were made from 1962-1964. Bodies were made by Ghia in Turin, Italy the result: the most beautifull turbine car built ever.

It was the first and only consumer test ever conducted of gas turbine-powered cars. 55 units built totally few remaind in museums and collection todays.

The model built from a Jo Han kit. Some addition inside/outside: pedals, shifters, scratchbuilt headlights made of separat reflector and glas and it was my first attempt to use BMF. The paint is on a dark brawn base a breath of bronze metallic, than similarly thin red perlescent and a main coat of orange perlescent and at last clear coated more times.

WOW! That looks great, I always loved the look of this car, you have done a great job. Nice detailing. The BMF is well done also, congrats on a good looking model.

Wow, that is nothing short of stellar! How about a shot of the engine?

Really nice work! :) Love the color. Looking at the bottom, I don't think there's an engine there. I think it's the curbside kit with doors that have been opened very nicely. :)

Looks stellar, and this is not an easy kit to complete.

I tried and put it back it in the box and bought a dealer promo

This isn't the Jo-Han kit, it looks like a promo.

The paint needs to be right and it looks good, nice job. Jay Leno has one and I remember seeing one at my junior high school many moons ago. A recent issue of Hemmings Classic Car has a good article if anyone is interested.

Yes, thats right.

Harry, its the "EZ-Built"-Kit from Jo-Han. Similar to the Promo with screws in the buttom.

I like the Turbine car. Since i searched the web to build my own Turbines, i am fascinated about the history and just reading the book of Turbinecar-Story. Love it! But the end of the story made me sad...

Actually i am building my ten'th Turbine... . Another story and i think, its my favorite of all cars i built in my lifetime.

Janos, it looks good! The color looks like its close to the original, the interieur has to much red in my view. Some details on the body i am missing, but overall you made a good job on it.

A closeup of your door hinges i would like to see too. The look very small!

Ok, it's good that we have that clear, otherwise people will think it's the old full-detail Jo-han kit, which this definitely is not.

You're right Harry. The full-detail Jo-Han kit has opening trunk and hood and its a "hard" to build kit. For my own, i put it back in my shelf and wait for a better day, to keep the progress going.

The only finished full-detail kit i remember is Mr.Obsessive's fabulous Turbinecar

Many thanks for the nice comments.

I beg your pardon I was not enought accurate: the kit is a Jo-Han 1:25 curbside kit. The other Jo-Han kit I think is 1:18. As I saw a pic of a ready model made from that kit I hasitated long to open the hood and install a scratchbuilt engine. I collected ref. pictures of engine and engine bay but I saw I shall need to make a subframe behind the dashboard and the place is too narrow there ... So I didn`t dare start - I`m not very experienced in such works.

Shardic and Dominic: sorry I have no photos about the door hinges in progress. I shall check how much can I catch with camera.

These were cool cars. I had the pleasure of seeing one running/ driving around the Mopar Nats several years back .

It sounds like a hair dryer on steriods when pulling away from a stop. But you can hardly hear it running at idle.

Lots of info here btw.

Here are some pic of the door hinges details. Sorry not very much to see. On the other hand just that was my goal .

But if I remove the door

Another well done job of portraying an unusual car using a rarely seen kit. I look forward in the future to seeing further interesting builds from you. Keep up the good work.
