picked up the new Model Cars MAg and the new AMT '62 Beswick Catalina. Havent opened it to grok it yet.

What month is that MCM? The most recent I've found at the LHS is the December '09 issue. My Beswick Catalina and '37 Ford pickup 2n1 have shipped from a couple online vendors on Thurs-Fri, probably will get them middle next week.

Noting special

Just some resin casting supplys.

I have a friend showing me how.

Not cheap either

to make the copy

To make the mold

P2270002.jpg

$60 bucks all together.

might have been cheaper just to make the parts over and over again..

I didn't make the molds or the Resin but I did make the winches, control box, and Fairlead.

one is a copy from a Tamiya ARB Winch bumper and one I made.

Now all I gotta do is set up space and figure out how to mix the stuff,& etc.....

BTW: the white stuff is what I scratch built and the Grayish stuff is the Resin parts.

15" Troyke Rotary Table for my Bridgeport mill. I got it off Craigslist. The seller said it was unused. Price was $175. In Texas, that's just unheard of. There's just not enough heavy industry to see things like this up for sale...ever, but at this price? I figured it was too good to be true. The funky color on the table is cosmolene!

I saw one on ebay last week with a huge chip missing out of the base for $540 + shipping on a 230lb chunk of steel halfway across the country.

Had a bit of mad money so this weekend on eBay I purchased a few nice builders. A couple of unpainted original Monogram 40 Ford pickups, a couple of AMT 63 Tempest convertibles, and a Revell dragster parts kit.

I gotta say, I was a little disappointed when this arrived in unsatisfactory condition today.

However, upon inspection of the contents I found that the only thing that was damaged was the glass. I will be contacting Aoshima for a replacement.

I also got a set of wheels and tires from VW Dave.

Thanks...I've never seen that kind of Tamiya Putty, and was curious what you thought of it. The "Basic" putty was gray and had aluminum flecks in it. I have no clue if they sell it here in the US, but I'll keep an eye out.

Tamiya Basic putty is REALLY good i have used it counts times on my builds never had a problem with it

Is this from the guy in Korea or Hong-Kong who never packs the kits in cartons? Just wraps them in this greenish paper? I'll never buy from him again. Buyers, beware!

Nope, Peurto Rico. It was packed in another box, but it looked like someone played football with it. The little sticker the USPS put on the box said it was received damaged, but in the listing the box was mint. So who knows.

I know that story. I paid way too much for my Stratos, too. I lost my mind.

Bought a '62 Pontiac, .080 Evergreen rod, and a can Testor's dullcote at the LHS and a '60 Chevy Quicksilver at Hobby Lobby with the 40% off coupon. Also got the oil changed in my pickup.

Got the Round 2 '62 Pontiac Catalina SD in the mail today..very nice. I already had 3 of the original issue + the custom version, but this version is worth having also, IMHO.

Scored a Monogram '77 GMC 4x4 shortbed fleetside pickup on ebay yesterday, been looking for that one for years.

Should be getting the Revell '37 Ford PU 2n1 later this week also.
