Evil Appetite Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) I've been thinking about one of those for a long time. it works good, huh? Some of those units are white and some are black. I wonder why? Looks like you got the electric one and there's a battery unit too. Yes, the first time I saw them it was a white unit..now they're black..and yes..it really does work well. http://www.robart.co...s/paint-shakers The bands stretch enough that you can also shake cans as well. I havent tried it yet but thats what I was told when I bought it Edited March 1, 2012 by Evil Appetite
Nick Winter Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Got these in a trade with Phil Harkens and Liam HaubenShield, thanks Guys.
heatride Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I dont usually get impressed over the hobby tools that I buy..but this thing is incredible..well worth the $50 I spent on it. I thought for sure I had a few hundred dollars worth of paint that had gone bad...5 minutes on this babyt and it's like new again. The caps that I could not open because the paint had sealed them were also worked loose by the vibration. Highly Recommended! I didnt even know they made such a critter as that ! Man I been out of this hobby way to long ...
Fabrux Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Kijiji score! Some of these are built, all of them are at least started. There's a guy in town that's moving out west and doesn't want to haul all his models with him anymore. If he doesn't sell off all his 1:25 stuff (he has a bunch of larger scale he's keeping) then he's going to let me know and I can probably get what he has left for dirt cheap.
Rob Hall Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 From the LHS, the Revell '77 Chevy van..from eBay, a mostly-complete MPC '33 Chevy panel truck, an unbuilt AMT '75 Matador, and an unbuilt Johan '69 Rambler (the 'Pro Street' issue which is not Pro Street). A package from HLJ awaits me at the post office which I'll have to wait until Saturday to pick up (Aoshima '78 Mitsu Galant Eterna (Dodge Challenger) and Fujimi Pantera GTS).

jayhkr Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 If you have a hand held jig saw you can pretty much make your own. I went to Harbor Freight and bought their $2.00 squeeze clamp, filed down the end so it would fit where the saws usually go in the jig saw and whalla, I paint shaker. I do notice that if I run my full blast for over 15 seconds the bottle comes loose but I always have something under it just in case. It's popped out plenty of times but it doesn't go flying across the room. Plops out like 6" away from me.
martinfan5 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I know what I am getting tomorrow , and maybe the mail man will bring me something as well
Jdurg Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I got a very nice surprise today. Earlier this week, I bought from Amazon.com an MPC 1988 1/16th scale Corvette Convertible. The shipping estimate for the kit said that it would get here on the 7th of March. So I was COMPLETELY surprised when during the middle of the day I got a knock on the door and it was the Mailman with a nice large box to give me. Opened it up and there was my still fully sealed MPC Kit. It was all in great shape and has made me so happy. I have wanted to build a larger scale modern Vette for a long time, but only knew of the 1/8th scale kit from Monogram (I think it was them, or Revell) and that's just a tad bit too large for me. 1/16th is a great size for me. Plus, it's the same scale as the 1963 coupe I'm almost done with. I like this MPC kit because it has opening doors which saves me the hassle of having to build that myself. For customizing, I think I'm going to open up the soft-top lid and put a rolled up cloth top in there, or if I can, figure out how to make it functional and unwrap it and turn it into a fully working soft-top. Hmm...... I just got an idea. I just wish there was a photo-etch detail set for a kit of this size as I want to sand off the molded in badges so that I don't have to worry about them when painting. I may have to look into getting my own photo-etch kit and try to create the emblems myself.
Drake69 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) This weekend was the Old Dominion IPMS Model Show, and I scored greatly..... Got BOTH Kammback kits, the Datsun 240Z Revell which I've never seen before, the '78 Corvette Pace Car, an Alternomod Caprice, the '71 Dodge Charger street machine, the '68 El Camino, and the Fujimi MR2 tucked inbetween the Celica Supra and Efini RX-7. The wife is getting a tad annoyed at the level of model kits I have now.... Edited March 2, 2012 by Drake69
bandit1 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hey alan...if you need a place to "HIDE" all those kits...you can hide em with me?
Drake69 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hey alan...if you need a place to "HIDE" all those kits...you can hide em with me? And there's 4 more rows underneath those you're NOT seeing....
lordairgtar Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I usually don't side with the spelling and grammar police on here, but one word just grinds my mind. What you think is wala, whalla, or wahla is in fact spelled "viola". It's french...learn it...use it!
forthlin Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Lots of spray & bottle paint, 2 BMF's, brushes, glue, tweezers & Arii's '58 pink Cadillac biaritz Got all this from Scalehobbyist.

The70judgeman Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 No pics, but 3 Revell '77 Chevy vans, another AMT Vantasy, a Revell VW T1 Samba Bus, black flocking for a '69 ZL1 Camaro(Revell '69 Yenko Camaro w/COPO Nova steel rims and poverty caps), and photo-etched wire looms(they were out of '69 Camaro photo-etch). Guess it was a "van" and trim day for me.
jw78z28 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 picked up a few over the past week. 1st. score was four Aurora racing scenes kits. got the vega body still in box, 417 don. blown still in box, funny car chassis still in box and a set or drivers still in box. All 4 kits are complete and never started. 2nd. was the new Fujimi tools 2 kit. very cool kit. I will be placing an order for set #1 as soon as I can get some money saved up so I can order a few of them. only thing I don't like about set #2 is that the books are molded into the bookshelf. 3rd. was the old barn plans book.

RodneyBad Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 This weekend was the Old Dominion IPMS Model Show, and I scored greatly..... The wife is getting a tad annoyed at the level of model kits I have now.... Okay, I give up. What is The Midway spyhunter 2?
2000-cvpi Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 While on a quick trip to Detroit yesterday , I stopped at a small hobby shop that was mostly a slot car track with a few kit's. The owner had taken a Johan Maverick box, with a Pinto drag car inside. With a little haggling, I bought it for twenty dollars. I have a built Maverick pro stock for the box and I'll have to find a box for the Pinto.
