Got a surprise earlier. I let the wife run into Ollie's earlier to get some plastic bins. She called me in, They had a huge selection of models for sale. Revellogram and Lindberg both. I picked up the 1937 Custom Ford Convertible, and I want to go back and get the 2007 Charger R/T Superbee. They were all $7.99

Love the box art and I will frame and hang .

That's box art worth framing Ray.

Went to the Japanese Classic Car Show yesterday and scored a couple of kit. The Ramen Noodle van was just so cool and quirky that I had to buy it!

And I brought along my Daytona kit and had John Morton and Pete Brock autograph it for me! Pete Brock was totally surprised by it, especially at a Japanese car show! Had a few guys try to buy it from me on the spot but I politely declined.

Today's Haul from the Three Rivers Automodlers Show here in Pittsburgh.

Normally I don't do built-ups, but today a found a couple of odd things that just compelled the money out of my wallet. The first is this tri-axle/race team lounge-office thing from Revell AG. Seems it's part of a truck racing team set that was issued at most three times, once with the Ford Aeromax and an American "racing truck" (it has a sleeper), and twice with Scanias. The last anyone can remember the entire combination was $170 at the Retail Price. So for $25 I'll just take the part I want. Diecasts for size...thing is totally unpainted, but has about a quart of glue on it, so getting apart might be interesting. Especially given the size and putting it in the freezer.

Then there was this Trumpeter '60 Bonneville. I know the various warts this kit has, and there's no way I would have bought it back then, or the sometimes silly prices they command online now, but for a price in the single digits and it's all there, even the dreaded P/E hood hinges. The thing has a pretty citrusy paint job, and doesn't look like much prep was done to any of the parts, but it's odd that it got almost to the end of the thing and just petered out and somehow wound up in a sandwich bag looking for a new home.

Onto the rest of it, all self explanatory. The container trailer is in desperate need of new tires since the kit supplies two part PLASTIC ones...how 80s! The last picture is stuff I bought from a friend who offered free curbside deliver to the show

I missed the sale at the local hobby shop, but I got a Lindberg '61 Chevy and two 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible promos of the bargain table...

Got rid of a bunch of stuff at the DuPage County model swap meet, so I added to my stash:

Special thanks to Okey Spaulding for bringing his JoHan stash; got clear glass for my '59 Rambler wagon, a set of '60 DeSoto taillight lenses to see if I can modify them into '60 Chrysler units, and a pair of cheater slicks. Also got some buck-a-can/bottle paints, a '66 Craftsman T-bird rear bumper in way better shape than the one I had, and much of a '53 Ford convertible (minus the body) for $3 - need it for the dual exhausts and maybe the wire wheels for the '53 coupe I'm customizing, and maybe modify the chassis and interior for my '56 Plymouth sedan. Plus one guy there may have the '72 Chevy pickup chassis I need; hope so.

And a bunch of cheap Matchboxes...

An amazing Subaru. Let me know if you'd ever had interest to trade or sell

Fujimi also made a tuner version for Tommy kaira as well. If you're just interested in the idea of a 2 door Impreza WRX STi itself, the regular factory stock one is still in the active Fujimi catalog and can be backordered at HobbyLink Japan.

Few more things that have rolled in off eBay the last two weeks. I love this time of year, when wives force their husbands to clean out the attic/basement/shed/closet, etc and people start wanting money for Christmas. The price was just TOO RIGHT (although the Alpina went for more than I would have liked) on these not to snag them.

How's the Revell BMW 850 kit ? Been interested for a minute now ..

I received this Revell Attempt 1 kit today. Since I'm a Pontiac engine maniac...I mainly got it for the Pontiac 4cyl Tempest engines. Very cool kit! Mickey Thompson was the man!

I would say the success rate of finishing this kit is very low maybe 30%. It fits together....well.....it doesn't!!! lol I was looking to buy one and did some research before hand and was shocked by how poorly it was.

I know nothing about this kit or the real car. It's got the half a V8 Tempest 4? I didn't know that engine was ever done in model form. Brad, I hope you consider doing a review on this kit sometime in the near future. I'd like to learn more about it.

If the body's as bad as it looks, here's a challenge - cut it up and build it as Chuck Porter's Chevy-powered "300-SLS" special (the last S stood for "scrap" - it was built from a wrecked Gullwing):

Add the engine from the 1/12 '57 Chevy and you're on your way. Much more info here:
