Scale-Master Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 This was made from the Vette Agin as a semi dare. It was missing a few pieces so I built it as a curbside. The wheels came from the Polar Lights Coronet 500 as did the rear tires, the front tires are from the parts box. Testors Cream and Red were used and custom decals were made for the graphics. The #5s and roundels are 70’s vintage MPC items, and they cracked badly during application. Light weathering was done with baking soda and light gray paint. I was going for a faux salt racer look.
bbowser Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Pretty cool take on that car. I like the color scheme and the cut-down windshield. Very convincing.
Erik Smith Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I like it. Great vintage look. The colors are very fitting and I like the finish.
1fine89 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I love the look of this, way to think outside of the box!
hemi Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 That it the best I have ever seen that kit look, you do great work.
rmvw guy Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Very cool!!! I like the way you rounded off the taillights like a later Vette. The tape on the headlights also a nice touch and the windshield is very cool. The Mobile Oil Horse is the finishing touch, I love it!
robertw Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 An interesting use of a kit that has largely been ignored since it originally came out. I like the near matte finish.
Bernard Kron Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Love the true-to-period restyle. The Porsche (?) windscreen is the keystone element with the graphics cementing the deal. Big thumbzupz!
TooOld Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) Really , really nice looking salt racer ! The paint is beautiful and the salt spray is perfect ! Great job ! Is there actually a windshield frame there or is it painted on ? Edited January 14, 2013 by TooOld
Steve Keck Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Well, hopefully you won the dare. You sure captured the salt racer look. Have you named it yet? If not, then I suggest Blue Moon
hOLMS Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 This is just cool...looks great, from paint, to stance, to weathering, all of it. Great work!!!
