cruz Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Finally got this thing done! It is a comission build for a friend who was an owner of a real one. The kit weighs a ton since it is also made up of a lot of metal parts. Color is Tamiya Racing Green w/ Testor's Wet Look clear. I would have preferred not adding the clear but the client likes shiny...... The kit is curbside. http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki
Paul H Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Looks fantastic! Great to see the completed model, btw is the rear badge a PE item from the kit?
John Goschke Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Beautifully done, Marcos! The client ought to be real happy!
cruz Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Looks fantastic! Great to see the completed model, btw is the rear badge a PE item from the kit? Thanks guys, I really appreciate your comments!! Yes Paul, the rear badge as well as the front one between the "eyes" are photo-etch items. Also, there is a very small P/E emblem in the center of the steering wheel.
cotto Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Wow man, what don't you build? This is awesome man, I have one and I am not even attempting to build it for a while, looks kinda difficult but you make it look so easy. Love what you did to the steering wheel. What paint did you use for the interior? Looks very good with the body color.
afx Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) Hey Cruz, now that you have the curbside under your belt your ready for a full detail build Edited February 20, 2013 by afx

cruz Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Excellent all around, and very nice work on the grille wash. Just perfect. Sorry Skip, it's a P/E grille, I cheated...
rmvw guy Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 It turned out really nice, your client should be happy. Nice pictures too!
Mauricio Meyer Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Very very nice Marcos! I love it. The wooden finish in the steering wheel looks great! Saludos!
sjordan2 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Sorry Skip, it's a P/E grille, I cheated... Not cheating. Just another example of how carefully chosen PE parts, expertly applied, can make for an extraordinary piece of work.
Bernard Kron Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) I own an all-steel, left hand drive, 1960 Frogeye Sprite. Although heavily modified (116 hp 1380 cc motor, Datsun 5 speed, lowered suspension with progressive rate front springs and Heim joint struts and Panhard rod in the rear, Minilites, deleted front bumper and tilt-forward front end), it looks pretty stock from the outside and we tried to preserve all the original parts and/or engineer it so they could easily be re-installed. This is a superb replica of the stock version. Beautiful! Edited February 20, 2013 by Bernard Kron
John Teresi Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Marcos........you turned another beauty.........love your work man
