curt raitz Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Thought the dampers/shocks looked a little on the "clunky-side" so I redid them with a little aluminum tubing and homemade springs...a little more to scale, I think a few photos of the chassis minus wheels/tires and a few other goodies almost done, thanx for lookin'
Nacho Z Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Wow, it looks great. You are doing some very nice work!
Bernard Kron Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Wow! What a wonderfully chosen subject. The simplest, purest era of racing car design ('though admittedly fantastically dangerous, too...), rendered in a finely detailed model true to the spirit of the period. More, more, more!!!!
curt raitz Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 All done...just in time for the Silicon Valley Scale Modelers IPMS Model Contest this Saturday in Santa Clara, California. 1st model contest I've entered in 5-7 years... ready to move to "UnderGlass" thanx for lookin'
Crazy Ed Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Very Well Done Kurt. OK How'd you do the Screen over the Intakes? Tony is one of the Hired Guns (Like David Hobbs) from back in the Hayday of Road Racing that is still with us. Had the origonal TransAm had an overall winner rather than Class only, he would have been the '66 Champ! Again, Well Done.

Ed, here's a link to the tutorial I did on making the screens for the intakes, hope it works...I've never tried to link someone to a previous posting on this site http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30800&hl=
IMSANUT Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Awesome! Nice to know decals are available for this car as I have a couple of spares of this kit I was wondering what I was going to do with!!!
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Another inspiring build. I always liked the looks of that era formula 5000 car. Nice work.
2lapsdown Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Where did you get the rear wing and struts? Everything looks fantastic, great job! John
Duntov Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Curt This is a great build.... the open nature of these cars requires that you pay attention to the detail well beyond that in a fully skinned road car.... You did a great job here!!!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
