martinfan5 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Thats different , but cool, nice job I always liked hood ornaments for some reason
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 That's an old Pontiac hood ornament. The Indian's face would light up when the car's headlights were on.
blunc Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 I think it was an option from the late 40's to early 50's.
rmvw guy Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Nice work Harry in Photoshop, I always loved those old ornaments, what a beauty!
kalbert Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 When hood ornaments were cool? You mean they aren't now?!?
TooOld Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Nice work Harry ! When I first saw it I thought it would look good on a Pontiac , never knew it really was !
Austin T Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Be cool to put a tiny LED on the tip of one on a model if you wanted to go all out.
Ridge Rider Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Looks good, I agree that we have too many wind tunnel designed cars No style, grace, or originality, but I have always been a fan of the art deco look.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I love your original illustration. Part of my taste in art tends towards liking relatively common things or machine elements taken out of their original contexts and turned into strong geometrical, almost abstract compositions. This one really does it for me. I'd like to have it on my wall, maybe 3X4 feet, framed under glass.
High octane Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Looks good, I agree that we have too many wind tunnel designed cars No style, grace, or originality, but I have always been a fan of the art deco look. Back then gas was cheap enough and nobody gave a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH about aerodynamics or wind tunnels, or gas milage. They did care "big time" about stylling to bring customers into their showroom and also sending them out in a new car. Now people "have to" have a car to get around in to go to work, shopping, etc., especially when both parents are working. Today people buy cars no matter what they look like as people want the cheapest car that can offer the best gas milage. And if you would stand on a busy intersection for about ten minutes, you will see that today's transportation looks disgusting.
knarf Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 quote from high octane: And if you would stand on a busy intersection for about ten minutes, you will see that today's transportation looks disgusting. i've noticed
1/24DragAndStreetCars Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 maybe you should do one of a Jaguar, or a Bently (don't know why as those are the hood ornament cars off the top of my mind XD)
misterNNL Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Really outstanding Harry. Thanks for sharing that part of your considerable talent with us.
