dragcarz Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 OK I'm becoming a fan very nice Corvette, I don't think I want one of those Kat Kits.
Davewilly Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Looks pretty nice...The Kat Kit would be cool to have just to have it
AC Norton Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 hi dave, thanks for your nice comments....i agree with you,..the met. orange kat vette is just neat to have, won't consider building that one. regards, a.c.
AC Norton Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 thanks michael for your comment....the decals were a blast to do. a.c.
AC Norton Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 ....some new photos attached.....the ace........
JTalmage Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I also have the katch the kat kit. I've been contemplating how to build it as to show off the sparkle orange plastic, but not let it be see-thru still. I really like the orange, but I have a feeling its going to be hard to pull off and look good.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Nice job on a pretty primitive kit. I picked up one of these at a clearance sale and was less than impressed with the poor scaling of the nose details, but then again, it's exactly the same as it was when first released 100 years ago. I've got some non-blobular gluebomb C1 chassis, and my build of this will most likely be a modified sports gas-class car as well, but with a flip nose with molded-in details. Yours looks great though. Edited September 8, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
Jantrix Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 That looks great. I may get this one out tonight for a slump-buster project.
AC Norton Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 thanks, bill, for your comment.................the ace....
deuces wild Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I bought the black styrene version of that kit... Not to impressed with it.. I think it's the Boyd kit..
AC Norton Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 not sure I know that kit, guido......can't remember that version......the ace..........
deuces wild Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) It's the one with the BIG 5-spoke mags and the rubber band tires.. Edited September 8, 2014 by deuces wild
Snake45 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 That old AMT '62 Vette is a truly wretched kit due mainly to the severely undersized headlights (and I've earned the right to say that, having wrestled one into submission just a couple years ago). That said, I was severely tempted to buy one of them in the orange flake just 'cause it's so cool. I'm glad YOU did--you did a really nice job with the thing, and I'll bet you even had a certain amount of fun along the way. Well done and model on!
Brett Barrow Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 New Revell kit is beautiful, BTW. Funny how you don't hear much about the ones they do nice, just the ones they eff-up.... Any chance you'd be willing to part with one of the decal sheets from yours?
AC Norton Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 sure, if you want to send me a new, sealed sock it to me vette...........
Brett Barrow Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 sure, if you want to send me a new, sealed sock it to me vette........... Well, I gave it a shot!
MitchP Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Good job Ace - not being familiar with the kit other than a passing glance in the hobby store due to the twin blower, am I to understand this comes with some pre-molded form of metallic orange? What an excellent idea for a break in models with intense detailing and styrene building involved. Congrats! BTW, any idea how many diff. colors this came pre-molded in and what they were?
Dyno Davo Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Very cool build, love every bit and super neat assembly, well done
AC Norton Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 hi Mitchell, actually, they come moulded in white,,,but as a collector gimmick, amt has made 1 in 12 the metallic orange as I show. if you are lucky enough to pop one open that's the orange, you have one that is considered a bit rare, I suppose, but I think sticking with a common white one is the way to go for building. I bought 3 the same day at a shop run by a friend, and luckily got the orange one opening the last one. chances are that you will get a white one if you buy one,,,,,but you may get lucky......best, the ace...........

It might be in metallic orange. 1 kit per case, you don't know what you've got until you open it, you've got a 1 in 12 chance of getting the orange one. Regular kits are white. Ace beat me to it!!
