Harry P. Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Why didn't you do the steering wheel rim in "wood" paint?
CrazyGirl Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 I used brown paint ,,,,,,,, for now , the wood came today , gonna make a wood wheel
Harry P. Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I used brown paint ,,,,,,,, for now , the wood came today , gonna make a wood wheel A real wood rim? Can't wait to see it.
Danno Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I used brown paint ,,,,,,,, for now , the wood came today , gonna make a wood wheel Why don't you shoot some in-progress pix for us, so we can see how to do it?
Danno Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I will Danno , gonna start it tomorrow Great! I can't wait. I've always wanted to do a real wood steering wheel. There was a very pricey aftermarket kit at one time, but I was too cheap to pay the freight. Can't wait to learn how to do it!
Danno Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Usedtacould. Been off the market for years and years. Too easy to paint a plastic wheel.
charlie8575 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 That interior is killer. If the rest is even half as good, you'll have a first place winner. Charlie Larkin
Albie D Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Amazing progress. Looking forward to the rest of build.
blunc Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 here is a link to tweezers, I use this brand professionally and they're worth the cost to get them. I have several of the cobaltima line, they're great for doing work through a microscope. http://www.excelta.com/product_categories/tweezers-forceps
robertw Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 I'm glad you're doing the conv kit so that the excellence of your work will clearly be on display. The amount of work that you've already put into this kit is already beyond what most of us do so I can't wait to see what you finally produce in the end it is going to be awsome.
Ron Hamilton Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Thanks Guys !! ,,,,,,,,,,interior is done , here is a 1:1 and here is mine , oops I saw something on the 1:1 pic and I fixed it on mine , I guess this is a good thing , you think your finished and you spot something Anne, You are doing some of the best work I have seen in a long time on this one. Can I make a couple of suggestions from what I see between the real car, and the model? 1) Add a set of window cranks on the lower doors. 2) The Turn Signal Stalk should be Chromed, with a Black tip 3) The door pulls ahould be approximately 1/16". Not nit-picking, but a few suggestions to improve upon an absolutely stellar build.
Jim Whalen Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Hi, Fanastic work you're doing on this '67 vette! I'm working on a '63 at the moment but it'll be nothing like yours, although I'll try some of your ideas. You can get wooden steering wheel rims from Replicas and Minatures of Maryland. When I had a go it broke into small pieces (you have to separate the rim halves from a chunk of cherry wood) but will go back to it sometime with white glue. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your build. I've been building for quite a while now and if my second build was a good as this I'm sure my name would be well known in the model building world!! If you keep in the hobby (please do!!) I'm sure you'll become a well known and respected builder.
