peter31a Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Hoping to be at the host hotel around 5. There will be 5 of us coming in 1 vehicle. Look forward to seeing everyone again.
charlie8575 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I'll be across the street at the LaQuinta- it's what I could get. To finish my project- if I can't get another PT locally to raid the headlight lens from, I did see there were a couple of hobby shops on Rt. 23, both not far from the hotels. Anyone familiar with them have any preference? Charlie Larkin
Ramfins59 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Only 2 more days until the BIG PARTY...... Can't wait...
peter31a Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I hope you guys don't sell out all the good stuff before we get there tomorrow! Looking forward to picking stuff up from you 'n Kris. Heading to bed now as I'm getting up at 3a.m. to start the adventure.
johnbuzzed Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 To all who are going to the NNL East- have fun and try to not spend a whole lotta $$$! I'll be at a steeplechase in Mineral Springs tomorrow but I'll be with you guys in spirit. "Maybe next year..."
Tory Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'll be there as Rascal Resins selling resin show rod kits. I'll also have a few models on display. Looking forward to enjoying another wonderful NNL East! Tory
Bowtienutz Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'm planning on spending as much as I can afford I pre-ordered a bunch of stuff. I got my wife involved in the hobby so I even have her shopping list so I'm off the hook.
Tom Geiger Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Charlie- If you head west on Route 46 from the hotel, you will find Tech Toys up a ways on the right...
Danno Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Tom and everyone from Tri-State Scale Model Club, Have a fantastic event this weekend!! We're confident it will be bigger, better, and even more memorable than ever, but we want you to know we wish you well! {And, thank you for your support of Desert Scale Classic.} ~Danno~ Cactus Car Modelers
charlie8575 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'm at the hotel with a friend of mine who's not a builder, but whose girlfriend is on Long Island, so he'll be going to see her tomorrow. Getting here was interesting, coming from 287, Rt. 23 seems to magically disappear, Rt. 46 and a road trying to force me onto I-80 appeared, but I managed to find my way back, taking a back-roads tour of Wayne in the process. Just need to get my bearings to dinner, and I'll see as many of you tonight as possible. Charlie Larkin
hyperhed Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Me and the wife will be attending....Looking forward to it...since last year.... I have nothing finished.....Just a spectator this year..

FASTBACK340 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Me, my Wife , and my Mistress will be there ...
FASTBACK340 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Great show… Great friends…. Great time. As I was walking out I dropped a few bucks on a resin Phantom `69 GTX 2dr. wagon and 4 bottles of paint. Spoke with Dave Metzler from Mobius about the upcoming `65 Plymouth Satellite announced today, along with a Hudson coupe. Test shots of the new Ford trucks were on hand too. Nice guy, nice product. Hope to see the new tools by the end of the year hopefully. Awesome show as usual by Tom & the Tri-State crew. Thank you!!!
gtx6970 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Spoke with Dave Metzler from Mobius about the upcoming `65 Plymouth Satellite announced today For real ?
FASTBACK340 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 For real ? For real…. here's a crumpled flyer I had stuffed in my bag. Dave was explaining that the tool masters will be done by a German design company known for high-end die-cast work (he mentioned a Ferrari Die-Cast costing in excess of sensible money…) so the level of detailing should be promising. I'm sure Dave will explain in detail. I'm going from memory of a brief conversation, but yes. SURPRISE!!!! We're getting another `65 Satellite kit. Ummm… interesting choice.
High octane Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Did you say '65 Satellite??? HOLY SMOKES, that would be awesome! I missed out on a 1:1 Satellite 'bout 6 years ago as I didn't act quickly enough, and it got away from me. Of course the 1/25th scale kit is MUCH more affordable.
Luc Janssens Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Wow, that is very exiting news, heard they had a few neat projects in the pipeline, never expected them to announce them that soon. Better start saving for these. Thanks team Moebius!
Funkster Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 The Belvedere 2dr wagon is great, I have to get one, What was the price for? That 65 Satellite looks like a must have for a big Mopar fan.
Luc Janssens Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 BTW about the '65 Ply. think tooling up that grille will be very challenging indeed.
FASTBACK340 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 The GTX wagon was $30. Decent casting that will need a bunch of work to smooth-out and will definitely need all the panels re-scribed, but it's pretty neat. It came with a multi-piece interior tub converted to wagon. Here's the caster: http://www.rmrmodels.com/index.html
DumpyDan Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Just got home to Ontario, Canada from the NNL East New Jersey. To everyone involved this was my first time and had a great time. Thank you very much what a blast.
