smellyfatdude Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The ' 56 Delray I posted not too long ago, was donated by me to a charity auction at work. The guy who won suggested I do a ' 57 for him to try and win, so I said sure. I let him pick the colors, and everything that got added. So it ended up being Tropical Turquoise and white, fuelie, 3 spd, plus full wheel covers and bumper guards. I added the back seat and all the pe pieces from yet another AMT ' 57 Pro Shop kit (that's three, lol!). He must've liked it 'cause he made sure he won that one, too.
realgone58 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Came out beautiful! Looks like the one that belonged to the old man on the movie "Used Cars".
crazyjim Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Very nice. Are those decals on the seats? If not, how did you paint them?
Sixties Sam Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Beautiful '57! Great color choice. That's a great kit, but I wish it came with a back seat. Good work! Sam
slusher Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Sweet looking build SFD. Nice detail. You always do very nice work..
charlie8575 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Very nice. Are those decals on the seats? If not, how did you paint them? Those are decals, Jim. They're very nice decals, too. Nice job on this, Darcy. Charlie Larkin
Danno Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Yes, Very nice build! Interesting arrangement you folks have at work. Contests you can set up to win yourself! Bottle that. It'll sell millions.
CSMO Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Hi, SFD. I have really enjoyed your builds, starting with those you posted on the Retro & Nostalgia Scale Modeling site. You build cars that are seen on the streets at home, that are driven by ordinary folks who take care of their older cars. Well done, sir! Adios, Larry.
smellyfatdude Posted June 8, 2013 Author Posted June 8, 2013 Interesting arrangement you folks have at work. Contests you can set up to win yourself! Actually, it's a silent auction, where you simply write your name and your bid on a board, next to the stuff. The winner just had to make sure he outbid everyone else by a healthy amount. Since all the money goes to charity, in this case breast cancer research, it was nice to see it fetch a good price, and the guy go home happy. I also donated a Revell diecast American Graffiti ' 55 Chevy, and he won that as well.
smellyfatdude Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Sweet! What color is that? So it ended up being Tropical Turquoise and white
