Its a simple question, what 1930's automobiles would you like to see cast in resin the most.

It should be something that has never been done as a model in either kit or resin form.

I know there are numerous makes and models that have always been popular in full size form that were for whatever reason never reproduced as model kits. While models from the 40's onwards have alway been well represented, there are entire decades earlier that were totally overlooked with the 30's being a good example. While the likes AMT, Monogram, Revell, Lindberg and MPC catered for the ford Fans they were reluctant to release anything else with Chrysler and GM makes few and far between. Anyway i happen to think a 1932 Reo, 1934 Buick or 1934 Lincoln would be very cool and i don't think i have seen any of these done as models at least not in plastic.

Just wondering what every one else thinks, they don't necessarily have to be passenger based either, there were a lot of neat commercial vehicles being produced as well, both in medium and heavy form.

Anyway let me know what you think.

Cheers

For me, a '32 Plymouth Sport Roadster would be "The Thing".

That could be used to build the Art Russel Plymouth, that is nowadays located here in Finland.

'30, '34, '36, and '38 Pontiacs would be fantastic...especially the '30 and '38. '38 Cad would also be great, but that would be fairly easy with an existing '38 Poncho.

An awful lot depends on whether or not a complete kit, in resin, would sell (to you, me, and the other guy too). With the possible exception of the '38 Pontiac mentioned above (which 6-cyl version would very easily use the AMT '37 Chevy kits a donors for all the fiddly stuff), every subject mentioned would have to be free standing kits for the most part, as there aren't any kits of cars even close that could be used to donate parts in styrene).

So, it all depends. Now, a '39 Lincoln Zephyr, coupe or sedan, would be a natural drop-on fit for the Monogram '41 Lincoln Continental--they are the same car under the sheet metal. A '32 Pontiac 6cyl series car would swap onto the MPC '32 Chevy--so that's another.

And of course, there are the ubiquitous V8 Fords.

I think the Phantom Corsair would be a seller...bizarre but I'd buy one anyway...and I think Art's suggestion for the '39 Zephyr coupe is great too...one of the all-time best looking cars. I'd also like to see more mid to late '30s GM, and early to mid '30s Mopars.

I'm speaking on two besides myself here on this subject . I know for a fact that the 1939 Studebaker Coupe Express truck and a Diamond T pick up would certainly be some unique pieces that would be welcomed .

As far as cars go, perhaps any Pontiac , any of the Chevrolet sedans , Plymouth and Dodge coupes could work too.

I like the idea of the 32 Reo and the 32 Plymouth. I would really love to see a Chrysler Airflow 4 door. I think it would lend itself well for customs and hot rods as well as replica stock. I'd really like a '39 Plymouth 4 door as well......could maybe be a trans-kit for the '41 coupe?

If I could suggest a resin and photoetch transkit, the old Pyro/Lifelike/Lindberg Auburn Speedster would be a good candidate for one - isn't the basic body/fender setup pretty correct?

Alfa 2900 C. Something like this:

Franklin Mint did a beautiful 1/24 diecast of it a few years ago. I have one, and it's superb, though the wire wheels could be a bit better. And I do wish it could be available as a kit. (They also did the Count Trossi Mercedes)

1937 Studebaker Dictator Coupe

1937 Studebaker Coupe Express (pick up)

OK, I know this goes over the 1930's limit but it's still Pre-War

1941 Studebaker Commander Skyway Land Cruiser (looks like a little Cadillac)

Some UK stuff - especially a Riley MPH, would be really great! The only prewar UK cars I've seen kitted in plastic are a few R-Rs and a Bentley 4.5 litre. Unlikely to happen though, so I'll just have to make my own.

However, of the US stuff, the '39 Lincoln Zephyr also gets my vote. Plenty of scope there for stock builds as well as customs. Btw, has anyone done a kit of the Chrysler Airflow?

Some of my wishes:

1932-33 Auburn Boattail Speedster

1935 Auburn 851 Speedster

1933 Pierce-Arrow (Chicago Century of Progress World's Fair show car)

1933 Duesenberg SJ Arlington "Twenty Grand" sedan

1932 Duesenberg "SSJ" roadster (either Clark Gable's or Gary Cooper's version, or both))

1932 Chevrolet Confederate Roadster (note, this is different body than the MPC '32 Chevy Cabriolet))

1935-36 Chrysler Airflow Coupe (fastback body)

1932 Lincoln KB roadster

1930 Cord L-29 Cabriolet

1935 Duesenberg SJ "Gurney Nutting Speedster" (Maharajah of Indore's car)

Those alone would keep me busy for a few more years!

I like all the ideas I've seen here. I'll add a 1936 Terreplane- Art Deco at its finest.

I'd also like to see a LaSalle. Several of the mid-late 30s models were gorgeous!

We've been thinking big all through this thread, so why not think small? What about a stock 1930 American Austin (the roadster body already exists, the Revell Bantam Roadster is modeled off a body shell first used in 1930 on the Austin!), and even nicer (if a bit larger) a stock 1933 Willys Model 77 Coupe, and why not dream on a bit--a kit of a stock 1937-41 Willys Americar Coupe?

Hmmmmmm?
