2014?Silly season is about to start. Where are the rest of the 2013 kits

It wont be long and we will be chattering about what is in store for 2014. Im still waiting on a few that "should" be out by now.

Anybody heard from Mobeious on the Ford pick up that was promised for summer.

Or the Miami vice Ferraris

Is there a kit you wanted but has not hit the shelf yet?

I'm still building kits from my "stash" so it doesn't matter if I see any new or re-issued kits in years. You guys must be buildin' one kit a week right??? Buyin' kits only makes you a "spender" and not a modeler.

I am waiting on all of these to be released

McLaren F-1 ,Nissan Cedric, Nissan Golira ,Subaru Sambur Panel van, Subaru Sambur P/U, Nissn Silvia PS13 Rasty, Nissan Slivia Spec R Aero, Toyota 86 Rockey Bunny, Toyota 86 RB Greddy, Nissan Silvia S15 SpecR.

I am also waiting for our local plastic pusher to get the ProStar, plus a handful of Revell kits that are either out but have not bought yet, or not yet released yet

I don't buy everything that comes out anymore. Not because I am cheap, its because I probably already have it.

Yes, I have more than I will ever build, but I am going to try! But that has not stopped me from buying more. That is part of the fun of being in this hobby. The excitement and anticipation of a new kit in your hands! Sure, we may put it away and never build it, but hopefully, somebody will someday.

After all, somebody bought all my vintage kits for the first time, right?

I am looking forward to the Moebius Ford, It seems half my to do builds are pickups and that looks like a nice one. Nick, would you have a stash if not for being a spender? It sounds like you have your supply like most of us but what is one more. Especially a new tooling.

Id have to agree with martinfan. I plan on building every kit i buy. I dont collect. I just have money to spend now who knows. I may lose my job/ get hurt and be out a while. So money may be tight then.

I do want a few of those ford trucks. I may buy 4 just because.

I want four each of the two different ones of the Ford pickups coming out soon.I can't wait to see them so my future plans start in my head.I think for months on what I want them to be.as for the other part of this discussion.I'm not a "spender" I/4 of the kits I have are for parts.and I love having my own personal store here.I build everyday.in between looking here on whats going on MCM I'm building.I have hopes of building everything plus more.but if my life ends before....then my wife will sell it...which will help her.thanks,Chris

I have to confess I get excited about new toolings, and I look forward to adding a few copies to my collection. Many kit manufacturers are trying to generate the most sales they can. They are trying to stay in business for as long as they can. In my book, this is a good thing. I build what calls to me, but sometimes when I get in a rut, a newly released kit will kick start a new build.

I don't see my self as a spender, I see myself as a charity kinda. I bring in these kits of the cold hard shelf and take them in,keep them warm and happy. I'm like a foster home for model kits.

Lots I'm looking forward to...the Fujimi McLaren F1 and Aoshima Rocket Bunny Toyota 86 (have those on preorder w/ my favorite Japanese dealer), Revell's 4th quarter releases ('57 Chevy Bel Air convertible, '69 Shelby GT500 convertible, '70 Cuda (hope this turns out better than the test shots looked), the '80s Camaro and Thunderbird Pro Stock reissues, the RoG VWs, and a bunch of AMT and MPC reissues...the '69 Chevelle convertible, '72 Chevy rescue van, '71 Dodge Demon, AMC Pacer in particular...

If one only knew what it CAN take to bring a successful model car kit to market, the time-frames which exist could be more easily understood. Time was, a model car kit HAD to be done on a schedule, and it had to meet a specific deadline or "ship date". That can (and has!) lead to more than one model kit having to be compromised to a level which raised more complaints than it should have, frankly.

As the poet Robert Burns once observed: "The best laid plans of mice and men go oft astray"--which in the case of model car kit development translates to the sometimes very frustrating delays in getting things as right as they could/should be.

• Since I'm on SSI, I have to really weigh necessities from wants . Kits are approaching 35 and 40.00 here for me . As a result , I'm buying only kits that I really really want . Nostalgia boxes, even pre- painted whitewall tires are being weighed in as opposed to buying a desired new addition. Around here , It's I P M S and Airplanes all the time . We've lost our remaining REAL hobby shop and I don't really consider the local Hobbytown U S A more than a nascence . Since most of my building involves scratch building , I'm using up my stock I have collected for years .

What I think Art was trying to convey is that there are many factors in getting a kit to market and while there are still some kits to come out, delays are common. No longer do the manufacturers control the production, that is done in China and then the long boat ride across the Pacific.

Outside of the Mobieus Ford Trucks, I am pretty content with what I have bought so far and have plenty to keep me busy!
