So, last night I got the biggest bargain I've ever got.

A Tamiya Escort RS Cosworth, in mint condition. Normally see it going for about £50...

Won it in an auction for £16!

This kit's one of my 'Eleanors'.

What has your biggest deal been?

A purchase from Kijiji:

5 Tamiya kits, 1 sportscar and 4 Formula 1 kits:

Ferrari 360 Modena, Ferrari F1-2000, Ferrari F2001, Ferrari F310B, and McLaren Mercedes MP4/13

All kits SI

$40 CAN or about £25

And BTW, very nice score on the Tamiya Escort RS Cosworth Tomo :) :)

I never make bargains because of shipping :P I would say the Fujimi Stratos Enthusiast model for 23$ was a good buy.

In the summer of 1976, I wandered into the local K-Mart one day after I got off work for the day (had a summer job while school was out).

I headed to the hobby department, of course, and what to my wandering eyes would appear? A Pocher 1/8 scale '32 Alfa Romeo kit, right there amongst the more mundane offerings from AMT, MPC, Revell, and Monogram. The price tag was $30.00!!! I couldn't believe that this kit was sitting on the shelf at a K-Mart, much less for $30 bucks! I figured that the price tag was a typo, and should have read *$300.00*.

I grabbed the big box and headed towards the checkout as fast as I could. Fortunately, I had the $30.00 on me (a rare occurrence for me in those days). I paid the cashier (who didn't bat an eye), and headed for my car as quickly as possible, and got ouuta there.

Almost 40 years later, I still cannot believe my good fortune that day....

$80 for a mint inthe box alfa romeo from a guy I met at the local hobby shop that was liquidating his collection. I told himit was worth a lot more but he said 80 is all he wanted. I flipped it on ebay for $400 a few weeks later.

I was browsing around in a flea market today and I found a Revell Mustang Cobra combo kit for $20. I also got two Hasegawa F-104's for $12 each, an Academy super Stallion for $35, an Accurate Miniatures TBF Avenger for $20, and A Lindberg Snark kit for $15. So, six kits for around $100. Not bad I think.

AirFix Burnout Bird. Okay it was missing a couple of parts, but all the most important parts were there. It was 5 Euros ($ 6,6). On eBay those MPC versions of this kit have high Buy It Now, and I have never seen another AirFix Burnout Bird for sale.

My best purchase would be a local lot. I purchased 409 models for 2k. I have sold about fifty to recoup my cost and can never build all the rest, but it's nice to have parts and options for the ones I do build . It can also be overwhelming wanting to do so many builds and not having enough time. Through buying and selling over the last several years, I have made this a free hobby to myself . I just wish I could do that in anything else in my life

Same for me only it happened in a Phoenix,AZ. K Mart, I ended up with two, the Red Alpha and the Fiat F1. They had a table just inside the front door. I saw a guy coming out with one as I was going in, and ask, he just pointed inside. I remember mine were only $20 though. :D:P:)

An eBay seller had two factory sealed ASA Thunderbirds with a Buy It Now price of $4.95 each. I bought both and they included an additional open but sealed inside ASA Thunderbird at no additional cost. Add on $12.00 for International shipping.

Probably my best was 3 MPC nascar kits.

A Petty 1972 Roadrunner, Petty 1972 Charger and I think the 3rd was a K+K Charger. all 3 still factory sealed . I paid $100 for them all.

Sold them on ebay ( all went international locations) and if I remember right not one of them sold for less than $150 EACH
