Ace-Garageguy Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) I guess I need to go check the rules on who can vent, and who can't, since my first response (a vent) was based on not seeing the need for multiple posts about someone's inability to get good results from paints many of us have used successfully for years. It's kinda like reading the posts from modelers who say using BMF is "too hard". All I did was suggest that he go back to using Tamiya lacquers exclusively, as he seems to have better luck with those. Some people have difficulty painting. It irks them. S'okay. I can lay slick paint out as well as anybody on the planet, but I've yet to master BMF. That kinda irks me. Edited February 28, 2016 by Ace-Garageguy
unclescott58 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Garage door arm pulled out of the garage door yesterday. : ( Should be a pretty simple fix. Just courious. What is a "garage door arm"? The only arm ever involved in anything dealing my garage door is my own. And that could be very painful. No jokes, no critism, just courious.

If that is true, I always reinforced mine with a good sized piece of plywood. Never felt the aluminum door panels were strong enough to stand up to stress.

I too have the reinforce where my attaches to garage door too. That clears that up. Thanks.
cobraman Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Pete is correct. However upon closer inspection I found the door harder than it should be to lift. I suspect it is the torsion spring ( is that what they are called ? ) at the top of the opening that assists with the door opening and closing. Still an easy fix........ just a call to my home insurance company.
Tom Geiger Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Last night our mail box got S-bombed. Someone smeared dog (we hope it's dog) stuff all over the inside, handle, the top and the flag. The mail box was fine when I checked the mail at 5:30 last night, and I noticed the mess when I went out around 2pm this afternoon. It's a curbside box, our driveway is over 200 feet long and the main rooms we occupy are at the back of the house so we heard and saw nothing.Figuring it was kids. I know people have done this when someones dog goes on their lawn, but we haven't had a dog in a year and a half. And we have no beef with anyone here.I called it in to the police, took a few photos and cleaned it up. I sent an email to our neighborhood chain letting people know what their innocent children were up to while roaming the neighborhood on a Saturday night.

Tom Geiger Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Teens do it all the time here and cops act like its no big deal. Someone ran mine completely over once snapped the pole offant the ground... I had someone take out my mailbox a few years ago in a snow storm. A storm where nobody should go out, I woke up that morning and looked out to see my mailbox on the ground, pole snapped clear off at ground level. There were also car tracks from the street that comes out parallel to my mailbox across the street. The tracks looked like the person missed the turn, hit my mailbox and then decided to go back home. There are only six houses on that street. You think someone might have been honest? Noooo
fog cutter Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I guess I need to go check the rules on who can vent, and who can't, ....it's widely know the Forum's Poster Children get away with pretty much whatever they want
Harry P. Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 it's widely know the Forum's Poster Children get away with pretty much whatever they wantAnd exactly who are these "poster children?"As the moderator, I'd be interested to see who I let get away with "pretty much anything."If you're going to make statements like that... back it up. If you can't (or won't) back it up, don't make the statement.PM me with specifics.
High octane Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Snow for us tonight, oh boy, oh joy! Guess I've been spoiled by the mild winter we've had so far. Deal with it, that's what they say. On the other side of the coin, spring isn't too far away.
Badluck 13 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 ....as some of you may know I have been raising my daughter pretty much on my own since she was six,now fourteen and now come to find out her mom is wanting her to move in with here being she is getting a divorce from her now husband......and to make matters worse Baby Girl is considering it.....talk about a punch in the gut and then getting thrown under the bus and being backed over just to make sure........
cobraman Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 If she does go she may very well want to return to you. Same thing happened to my BIL. His daughter thought the grass was greener and soon found out she made a big mistake and wanted to return to him about 2 months later.
Joe Handley Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 This one is for my Kid Sister, she bought a Challenger R/T Classic in Plum Crazy at the end of May 2014, speced out what she wanted , which was the performance stuff, but since the color was out of production by then, they found that had some of the more pointless stuff (sun roof, Mopar Package, bigger stereo). Well, as she was clearing it off on her lunch break, anotherChallenger owner, a guy, started more or less questioning ability to handle the car. Kinda pissed her off.
Roadrunner Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 This may be fairly petty, but I finally ordered a book that I've been wanting for a very long time now. I bought the book (from an Amazon seller) two weeks ago, and found out today that it's supposed to be delivered on the 10th of this month, three weeks after ordering.
Roadrunner Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Garage door arm pulled out of the garage door yesterday. : ( Should be a pretty simple fix. This afternoon, some moron was ringing the daylights out of the doorbell, so I went up to see what was what. There was my roommate, storm door handle in hand, looking very frustrated. The storm door had been pulled tight, is quite a tight fit in the opening, and he had no way to open the door. Kind of funny actually.
Ramfins59 Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 This actually irked me late yesterday... A couple of 1955 Plymouth promos were being auctioned off on EBAY for very reasonable prices. I've been trying to get a '55 Plymouth for my "Class of '55" collection for many months. I put in my max bid ($50) and waited until the auction was ending...... The auctions for 2 cars were ending within about 10 minutes of each other. At the last 6 seconds of the first one, I got sniped, probably by several people...... The winning price was $78.So I bid the same $50 (my usual limit) on the second one...... and waited... Again I got sniped in the last few seconds, probably by several people again...... The winning price was $112.I know the auction Sniping programs have been discussed at length before on this Forum, BUT I HATE THOSE PROGRAMS AND THE PEOPLE WHO USE THEM... !!!I'll continue "being patient and persistent" and hopefully I'll eventually get a '55 Plymouth.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I have the flu. Not helping the MS situation....Hope you're feeling better soon Carl. Take good car of yourself.
disabled modeler Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Richard... I hope you find your cars for your collection buddy...I am going through the tough search for some we owned family had over the years. I know it gets aggravating and old fast...specially on a very very small budget to work with...be persistent look at antique malls, second hand stores, garage sales your day will come. If I find any of the ones your looking for Ill let you know.Carl buddy...hope you feel better soon.
Tom Geiger Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I know the auction Sniping programs have been discussed at length before on this Forum, BUT I HATE THOSE PROGRAMS AND THE PEOPLE WHO USE THEM... !!! What irks me today is that I just found out that my ole buddy of 20 years Rich, hates me! Oh well, I'll cheer up again when the two '55 Plymouths I won on eBay come in the mail! (just kidding)

Oh well, I'll cheer up again when the two '55 Plymouths I won on eBay come in the mail! (just kidding) Cheer up Tom, I don't hate you personally....... I guess I should have just said that I hate those sniping programs and some of the people who use them. It's actually going on 24 years that we've known each other...... My first NNL show was 1992. I'm looking forward to seeing you in 6 weeks. Stay well.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 More retard phone scammers calling in with hidden or spoofed numbers. I keep putting the numbers on call-block, they keep getting more. One of the latest tricks is spoofing MY OWN name and number, so it comes up on my caller ID. Is ANYBODY really stupid enough to answer a call like that? Really? These clowns couldn't generate income (and would eventually go away) if everyone stopped answering idiot calls...but of course, that'll never happen. And the FCC continues to do nothing.I'm kinda tempted to see what it would take to develop an application to reliably ferret out the real originating number, and then do massive and sustained call-backs, kinda like a denial-of-service attack on a website.Of course, knowing how illogically our great protector works, I'm sure I'd be prosecuted for being the bad-guy, when all the thousands of thieving scammer operations are allowed to run free. There just ain't no justice.
Tom Geiger Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 . It's actually going on 24 years that we've known each other...... Man we are friggin old! LOL

A couple of them recommended a specific Panasonic phone system that will allow you to block up to 30 numbers. It worked exactly as advertised, but I was surprised at how quickly the 30 "kill" allotment filled up.Speaking of dorsal orifices, we heard a message coming through our answering machine yesterday that claimed it was a call from the IRS, although they later referred to themselves as Internal Revenue Services. Time to find a bigger, better blocker. Edited March 5, 2016 by Monty
