Hmmmm. Wonder why soldiers are required to wear uniforms. Looks like they'd be a lot more comfortable wearing whatever they wanted to. And all that saluting and "sir" stuff...what's that all about? Everyone should be treated equal, and have a say in how things are run. It's all so unfair, having a chain of "command". I mean, just because somebody's a general or something, how does that make him the boss of me?

I am very tired of seeing pajamas and slippers and baseball caps in church!

I've long ago given up much hope for such casual places as court, but fortunately many of the judges are fed up and have started enforcing decency standards in their courtrooms.  Doesn't help the hallways, foyers, and lobbies that much, but we can only imagine if they didn't try at all . . .

Working in the software biz, I'm used to shorts and t-shirts when I've worked in software companies, or khakis and button down shirts (or jeans and polo shirts for casual Friday) when I'm in a corporate IT environment.  When I worked in consulting, it was usually shorts & t-shirts at the office with dressing up when I had to visit a client's office or go out to lunch or dinner w/ clients.   I do have a sizable collection of ties, dress shirts, etc, but those mostly only are for formal events.   I would never go out in public in flip-flops, pyjamas or sweatpants, though...some clothes are only good around the house.

I get to see the daily perp walk into Central booking at the Kings County Criminal Court. I'm always amazed at the number of people who come prepared wearing their dress sneakers. It's as if they knew they were going to end up there.

Gee Bill, that smells a lot like snarcasm.  Well done.   :)

Even when I go to NNL-East, I always have a button-down shirt and dress slacks on...

Oh, wait, that's mostly all I own.

Nevermind.

That said, if my company is vendor-room ready next year, I'll be there in a suit.

Getting my company ready for the long-term, I actually wrote into the following into the employee manual so that no question might arise.

This is a professional office. Please dress accordingly. That means:

  1. No dungarees.

  2. No polo shirts.

  3. Men are expected to wear dress slacks or “kahkis” (actual color is irrelevant as long as it’s tasteful) and button-down shirts and ties, unless a physical problem makes wearing a tie uncomfortable or difficult; please discuss this with the Administrative Manager or President in confidence if this applies to you. Sport-coat/blazer/suit are preferred on a daily basis and particularly requested in the event of meetings, especially with outside companies or interests.

  4. Ladies are asked to dress modestly and try to avoid excessively plunging necklines, short-length tops and skirts shorter than approximately knee-length (give or take an inch or so), or to wear ladies’ dress slacks.

  5. Shipping and plating personnel may dress in a manner appropriate to their jobs. Preferred dress is Dickies, Cintas or similar work pants and chambray shirts or any protective clothing that material manufacturers may advise.

  6. If you work from home…we’ll just trust you’re wearing clothes! However, if you are asked to video-conference for any reason, please follow the above guidelines.

  7. Please use office-appropriate language. We all have extreme frustrations and moments of explosion and melt-down. It’s part of the human condition. However, repeated bad language may result in penalties.

I'm withdrawing my application immediately. This violates and offends every low moral standard I hold dear and try to live down to...........

I notice you didn't mention thongs.

You'd be in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act if the alleged violator claims to afflicted with Tourette Syndrome. Boy, that could mean a federal discrimination lawsuit that would leave you without a %$#@!*( pot to *!@# in if you lose.

Not really.

Doctor's note fixes everything.

Another portion of my manual reads as follows...

  • Allegations that are demonstrably false will result in penalization for making false complaints about a co-worker or the Company in an attempt to damage their reputation, and may result in termination. If a suit or other settlement results in a cash award, and the proof of falsehood later arises, we will use whatever means are at our legal disposal to recoup funds paid out under perjured legal testimony. If the misrepresentation is severe enough, we will seek criminal prosecution under fraud statutes.

"we will use whatever means are at our legal disposal to recoup funds paid out......" Whoa! Hey! Whoa! You know how much lawyers are gonna cost you? After charging for their time and taking their piece of the action, you'll be lucky if you see anything. You don't want to get involved with no shysters. Go see the "Cheeseman" on the North End. He's got people who specialize in "collections" for a flat fee.

33 and a 3rd % of all monetary winnings in this area. That's alittle steep for our area too. And that's Pre-tax.....

The idiot drivers that can not figure out what lane they want to be in.

Xenophobe! Bigot! Misogynist! Cat hater! Stromboli eater! You should be more understanding. It's difficult to simultaneously text and keep your eyes on the road.

The ones I ran into I do not think were texting but could not decide if they wanted to go left or right or go east or west on the highway,I could understand it if they had out of state or county plates but they lived in the area and I think are just stupid.

I see this a lot in my area. I call them GPS people , if they're not texting they're looking at the dam GPS

Specially if you're eating, drinking hot coffee, shaving and putting on makeup while dictating the morning's presentation introduction...  :D

If you're shaving and putting on makeup, you have bigger problems...

My bad. Shave first, then put on the makeup...though I actually have seen a woman shaving her legs while driving. Electric shaver plugged into the cig lighter, top-down convertible Fiat.;)
