Four tires and an alignment on the Grand Caravan today!

How much did that run you, I dropped about $800 for both on my 200 yesterday, although I can't complain, considering how much better the new BFG's are vs the factory installed GY LS2's, it's appearing to be worth every penny already!

Same thing as every day...rampant stupidity and ignorance everywhere...and people who wear their dumb like some kind of badge of honor.

Really, everyone is NOT created equal.

Personally, I think most people ARE created equal, but too many of them just put extra effort into not doing anything with what they're created with.

Now I don't feel so bad! I spent $600 and that included replacing a tie rod. Note that this is my 200,000 mile Dodge Grand Caravan so I just put General Altimax 60k tires on it for $85 each minus 15% rebate. I got $110 credit on my road hazard warranty on my last set of tires. I blew two of them in a huge pot hole a few weeks ago and another had a bubble on the side.

Yeah, that's not so bad! IIRC, the BFG's I bought were their brand new to the market, ultra high performance all season tires and only paid $138ea. (Tire Rack wanted $153ea!) then got the next size wider with the same series sidewall (so it's taller and wider), plus road hazard and a much needed alignment. I don't envy my sister one bit on her '14 Challenger though, bring a "Super Track Pack" car, it's got hi-perf summer tires in 245/45ZR20, the 235/50ZR18s I just bought and the 235/75R15s on my Jeep are way cheaper!

One funny thing though, when I had my Jeep reshoed at 144k, I that alignment had been the factory one and it held fine and had remained within spec....and independant suspension is supposed to be better?!

Speaking or tires, I had to drop over $2000 for tires for my MR 2 Turbo. Well sort of. The car has staggered tires. 195/55ZR15 on the front and 225/50ZR15s on the rear. Couldn't get high performance tires for the rear any more. No one made them and believe me I tried. Clearances inside the wheel wells is very tight. Less than 3/4" in the front. Did a ton of checking and comparing and finally had to buy 17" rims to get any type of selection. Got a diameter within 10% of the original and same footprint on the ground. Down to 1/2" clearance on the front suspension. It had a firm ride before and this did nothing to improve it but the Michelin super sports are great in the corners.

Which part annoys you? The woman who is a manager or the guy who doesn't believe it? ;)

The guy who wants to talk to the MANager, just aggravates the living daylights out of me when I see or hear of that, especially to people I know.

I'm wondering how long it will be before I have to do that with my Jeep, that are more of a road going instead of more hard core off road tires.

Here in Holland and Belgium, police is playing with these stupid drones...

they are breaking laws of privacy BUT if you hurt the stupid machine you can pay 30.000 (!) for something you've done to protect your and others privacy...

My dad is just going to shoot them when their above our garden.:D

A farmer did and he got charged for destroying police stuff.

He thought it was an UFO. :D

What annoyed me at one time was a female body-shop "manager" who didn't have the first clue as to what she or anyone else in the shop was doing. Couldn't write any kind of usable estimate because she didn't actually know how a car is put together, what the parts were called, or which systems might have crash-related damage...but she'd argue all day if you gently tried to teach her anything. Kinda like a know-it-all guy (who doesn't) with boobs.

But I'M ALL FOR WOMEN GETTING EQUAL PAY AND RESPECT FOR EQUAL KNOWLEDGE AND WORK.

And I've known plenty of male "shop managers" who were just as clueless and arrogant as this bidge was.

Equality, see? Yeah baby. ;)

Thing I've seen, especially at a hobby shop, but even places like the toy and grocery stores I've worked at, is that people like the guy in the comic would prefer dealing with a man over a woman, even seen other women doing it to female management or staff.

Well... a follow up on my tire post. I got on the PA Turnpike this morning and right when I got up to speed the front end starts shaking and I get a howling noise like I just blew a wheel bearing. So I limp off the Turnpike at the next exit and head for my favorite repair shop and thought, "ya know, let me check the lugs." Sure enough they never tightened the front wheels. Rears were tight, but the fronts were loose enough that I got about half a turn of my spanner on each. No more noise.

So I paid Mr Tire store a visit on my way home. The manager was suitably upset, pulled the van back in and redid the alignment and balancing job since I told them that if their tech missed the very basics of tightening lugs, I seriously doubted anything else that he did.

Then they put on my account that they owe me five synthetic oil changes. I guess that's getting off cheap for them since somebody's wife might have flipped the van when the tire came off!

Oh yeah, but people always think I'm being a mean SOB when I rag about incompetent people doing half-assed work...everywhere...

Been a crazy couple days IRL and at work... just the kind of days where you want to chuck it all and run screaming for an island. The mildest thing that happened was at work this afternoon---the elevators in the parking garage got stuck between two floors...with several people on it...incl. my manager.

Gee, for my dad, especially with his last immediate supervisor, that would've been a vacation for the afternoon!

Although, with Dad's luck, he'd be stuck on the same elevator...
