Casey Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 That's when he told me I had a rust hole in the frame! Passenger's side, where the firewall and framerail meet, by chance? If so, extremely common on the F/M/J bodies, due to all the detritus getting trapped there, then allowing the water to sit...plugged firewall flapper vents are very common, too.
Austin T Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 People who put unrelated tags in their Craigslist ad. "I'm selling a Ford Taurus, better put some tags like Jeep,Camaro,Corvette,Skyline,Supra,AMC,ect in there! That will bring them in!" or the dealers that advertise in the "Owner" area. No owner sells a car for monthly payments, give me a break.
Nick Winter Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Guy who proceed to pull out in front of me as he saw me coming down the street in the inside lane...........pulled out so close I could see the whites of his eyes, good thing I just did the rear brakes in my truck, had to punch the pedal to the floor, luckily a local Police Cruiser was passing as this occurred and he hooked a 180 and went after the guy, had him pulled over a few miles down the road. Justice tastes pretty good. Nick However having to clean up my coffee I had just gotten off of my dash, seat, floor, headliner and windshield was a bit of a pain.
High octane Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Another reason not to "drink & drive," and yes I do it at times also. Had a cup of coffee this morning while driving on I-88.
charlie8575 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 After lots of pulling hair out, we finally determined the computer in my car has been causing all the problems I've had- I phrase this because it kept testing as good. The Chevy dealer managed to figure it out. The optical sensor on the distributor was also malfunctioning- the distributor itself is okay. We're not sure if the sensor shorted the computer or the computer and sensor died separately at the same time- although I do wonder how the car would run at all if that sensor was shot. Now....they seem to be running the clock and inflating my bill! Not a happy camper right now. All I can say is my car had better run right after this. Charlie Larkin

No owner sells a car for monthly payments, give me a break. Agreed! I put a search into my local Philly Craigslist for "Breeze", to look for another Plymouth Breeze, and I got two pages of results. Most of them for a single dealer who had this HUGE keyword list of every car known to man. So his ads would come up with any search anyone did. I had time, so I pulled up each ad and reported it as prohibited. I'll have to check back and see if he's still advertising. And with car ads a few things irk me, dealers who just advertise a payment... there are those of us who pay cash. And it tells me that the car is priced too high to begin with. Ads that don't list mileage (you know it's a high mile car).. and going a step further those that say "Nice Miles" or "Low Miles" then you find out their idea of "Low" is 120,000. And lastly those that don't list a price. How many people answer an ad for a car that has no price and no miles listed?
Tom Geiger Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Man, I just have to vent before I rip someone's head off!! Today just hasn't been a good day all around, and partly because it started yesterday! I didn't get any sleep last night because my back decided to rear it's ugly head last night and I just couldn't get comfortable and was up all night. At least one good thing out of that, the better half didn't have to fight me to wake up at 8:00 AM to take her to a doctor's appointment she's already missed three times because she either couldn't get a ride, the weather was too bad to go, or she rescheduled it for a day that was not one of my scheduled days off. Yesterday, me and my "brother" JR (which just also happens to be my better half's ex and father to her daughter [LONG STORY!!] but also the son of long time friends that I consider family that I met dating his sister in high school) were trying to figure out what the shaking was in my 1983 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue. Well, other than badly worn shocks I already knew were getting changed, we thought we tracked it down to a badly worn tire. After throwing the full size spare on from the trunk, it seemed to calm the shake down and figured the shocks that I had to order yesterday and he installed for me today would do the trick, along with a front end alignment. WELLLLLLLLLLL, that wasn't it, but the other front tire we discovered today had a broken belt. So, after JR fought the old shocks off the front with a grinder, I went to the closest tire shop and got two new tires and alignment done, and figured that would be it until next week to fix some rust and exhaust work and see what a new windshield would be so it would pass WV state inspection. YEAH, RIGHT! I find out that they couldn't do the alignment today because I need a new idler arm in the steering before it can be aligned, and of course, I had to go back to Advance Auto and order that to pick up on my way to work tomorrow! On top of it all, I asked the mechanic that was under the car for the alignment, other than the obvious I already knew, did he see anything else that would not let it pass inspection. That's when he told me I had a rust hole in the frame! He didn't notice anything else, but he said when I bring it back for the alignment, he'd check it closer, and if there are more than two rust holes in the frame to fix, I can't even have them repaired because with more than two, it will not pass WV inspection with more than two frame repairs! I might have just dumped over $200 into a car I can't even make legal here! What's up with that car? In one post you say it has 9,000 miles on it, so I'm picturing a cream puff. And now this rant?
jrherald420 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 9000 miles but its still had 30 years to rust. Ive seen it many times, mainly up north.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 People who put unrelated tags in their Craigslist ad. Buncha idiot clowns do the same thing on ebay for real car-parts and kit-parts as well. Annoying.
Old Buckaroo Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Buncha idiot clowns do the same thing on ebay for real car-parts and kit-parts as well. Annoying. The more I use the internet the less impressed I am with it. Mostly for the above mentioned and search engines. I once was looking for images of a "Marlin 336 rifle" and I could not believe all the neckid lady pics. What the heck ? And ebay has driven me away , when you go to models, automotive then trucks and you are finding real appliances, fruit baskets, baby chew toys ect it is time for me to move on. And those people who use cross reference for autos also need to be nuked at their keyboard.
Greg Myers Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I have a search for "Sizzler" http://www.ebay.com/itm/MONOGRAM-FACTORY-SEALED-SLINGSTER-SIZZLER-CUSTOMIZING-DRAGSTER-/111304131391?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item19ea3e433f
Nick Winter Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Another reason not to "drink & drive," and yes I do it at times also. Had a cup of coffee this morning while driving on I-88. I Don't drink my coffee while I drive, I left the coffee shop (drank a mouthful on my walk out to my truck), then the idiot cut me off leaving me to mash the brakes at which point because I have a 21 year old half ton with nearly original everything Suspension It dove at which point the collapsible cup holder proceeded to make my coffee into a projectile. I Usually pick up a coffee and a tea on my way to work, one for me one for the co-worker, and maybe if I'm in the mood I'll grab a coffee on my way home from work, I never distract myself from driving by trying to multitask, I set the radio, and leave my food or beverage till I arrive at my destination. Nick
Casey Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Is that mix tape?? Interesting how the tape deck is separate from the radio, yet it appears to be a a Delco tape player.

Shush...............yes it is a Mix tape............It's not Separate Casey, its all one unit, it just happens to be that there is no room where the radio is for the Cassette Deck so GM put it in the closest available space. It's hardwired as one unit as well. I can take a better photo tomorrow. Nick
JM485 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Had a guy pass me right as two lanes merged into one today, then proceeded to watch him tailgate the poor truck in front of me with about five feet to spare for about ten miles. Not only that, but we were on a two lane country road that is known to be really dangerous, and he was swerving around like he was going to drive on the shoulder of the road and try to pass him! I almost turned my PA on and ripped him a new one but then I realized it would probably make him even more crazy, so I refrained. I do love having that speaker though, it comes in handy.
RodneyBad Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Is that mix tape?? Interesting how the tape deck is separate from the radio, yet it appears to be a a Delco tape player. Easy Now, that was a High Dollar Option back in its days. LOL..
Nick Winter Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Easy Now, that was a High Dollar Option back in its days. LOL.. The Cassette Player with equalizer was the even more expensive option
Casey Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 The Cassette Player with equalizer was the even more expensive option I'll see if I can find the window sticker for my '95 Astro LT tomorrow, but my van is still rockin' the top-of-the-line auto reverse tape deck with five-band graphic equalizer.
Joe Handley Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Auto Reverse AND 5 band equalizer, that was pretty hot stuff for a factory stereo back then.............Can you imagine the mental meltdown if somebody who hadn't even seen an in car record player saw what even some of the more basic multimedia systems can do now?! After I got the 200, Dad wished the company trucks he had through C&NW back in the 70's and 80's had at least tape players let alone CD player, Hard Drive, and Sat. Radio in particular when he had to go out west of Omaha for work.
Tom Geiger Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Don't know what you typed in, but I just did both a google and bing image search for marlin 336 rifle, not a single nekid lady! And my safe search is off! Looks like they've cleaned things up a bit on Google. The first time I searched "Mr Softee" you can imagine the stuff that came up. I just tried it again and got all ice cream trucks! Amen!
High octane Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Yes, I had the cassette player w/equalizer in my last truck. It was awesome!

The search results are determined by multiple factors, one of which inclues the filtering option a user has set on their browser. You can have it set to ignore adult content (and this works for the most part), but keep in mind that just like the above conversation about search tags in Craig's List, the "seller" (in this case the adult site owners) wants their content to be seen, so they may add search tags that you would not think of being related. In addition, the browser a person uses could also influence what you see. You could possibly also have Malware on your computer that would cause these types of results. What brower are you using?

Firefox & Google - my Wife told me that "Google" has became more pg over the last year or so. That search was a while back. I just never imagined so many females having the name "Marlin" though
