Burnout Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Thanks for posting. I like them all but the Wonder Wagon is especially fine.
Nitrozilla Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Terrific !!! Just as I get my blood pressure under control, you have send it skyward. Nice Stuff.
PlasticWagens Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Great builds, but I love the Billy Meyers Mustang II and WonderWagon Vega the best. Nice stuff!
Pete L. Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Really cool builds, the Wonder Wagon looks like a pic of the 1:1 car !!!
Hondo Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 They look as GREAT as they did the first time I saw them....... Thanks for showing them again, Aaron !!
Mister Twister Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Really nice builds! You do some very nice detail and super clean work!
MitchP Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Aaron: ditto with the other comments. Especially the sometimes overlooked details like the cleanliness, surface and paint color of the sheetmetal fabrication under the body. I have a question: on the 1st three pics, the altered and both floppers have a slightly metallic or pearl sheen/finish to them, yet they aren't gaudy like my current build is turning out (I'm 56 and only starting up with the hobby now). I'm using Testor's Purple-licious shaker lacquer and the flakes are HUGE! I was really looking for a smaller flake; more like a pearlescense. I can't afford anything but shaker right now. I've been using Tamiya fine white primer with the Testors; however, due to some recommendations here and cost I'm going to try my next build using Dupli-color products. The car is the Glidden T-bird pro stock and I might even vary from the red on the box and shoot it in yellow as it's my favorite color. It all depends on how the decals would look and if I decide to go 1:1. Do you use and air sprayer or cans? Judging by the class of your work, I'm supposing spraying which makes the paint brand irrelevant. I was just hoping I could find something that still caught the light without being as gaudy as Testors. Thanks and again, great work!
AZ Boy Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 Mitch, all my builds have Tamiya rattle can paint jobs. The bantam has a silver base, and I topped it off with their clear red. Some of my models were cleared with Tamiya's Pearl Clear to give them a sort of 'metallic' finish. Nothing fancy at all. Thanks to you, and everyone above for their comments!
GoatGuy Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Great builds. I love the funny cars. What are you working on now? Lord willing I'm going tomorrow to Maple Grove to see the pros run.
AZ Boy Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Thanks Dave. I'm building a 1/16 Radici & Wise Vega right now. Revell body, Chuck Boerner decals and a scratchbuilt chassis. These pics are a little dated as I've made progress since they were taken. Have a great time at Maple Grove. That track is one of the fastest on the NHRA schedule, and I'm sure you'll see some record runs.
Mooneyzs Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Aaron.... this is a very nice collection of build you have there. Man are all of the gorgeous builds. I would be happy to have any of those on my shelf. Its great to more pics of your 1/16th scale Radici & Wise F/C. That chassis is looking killer. I love how everything just pops. The detail is fantastic. I am looking forward to more updates on that build. Keep up the great work my friend.
MitchP Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Holy moly! Do you use 1:1 research for the fuel line plumbing? I have a 1/12 preassembled model of a 426 hemi I use for reference, but it looks a little lacking compared to yours. The shine of the blower hat (chrome paint?), belt guide bolts over the top cogged pulley are so detailed. Bravo!
MitchP Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 May I also ask you the source of your fuel fittings? I use RB Motion preassembled blue/red, but they don't come in 45 degrees; only straight and 90 degrees.
