Those are cute little buggers. I tried one in a showroom- roomy, but the seat wasn't too comfortable for me.

I might go get a kit at some point and build one. I'll be interested to see how yours comes out.

Wow. They sure came out fast with that kit. Those cars are barely in production.

The cars started production in 2007, so its been almost seven years.

Tom, I am not sure if you are aware, but there are fit issues's with this kit, alot has to do with the rear window piece, I lot of trimming is going to be needed

  • Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
  • The new 'Fiat 500's and 'Minis' are awful!
  • If you want to build a good car then do it. If you want to cash in on a marketing opportunity, make a 'cute' 'retro' piece of wasteful recycling (the first draft was one four letter word).
  • Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but it is very profitable.
  • Having said that, have fun with your model, it looks challenging.
  • The first car I ever drove was a proper Fiat 500 on the island of Minorca in about 1973, I'm 6'4" but I fitted fine and it was great!

I guess I didn't realize they have been out that long. I stand corrected.

You should have to WORK on them. I did a transmission job on a new Mini about a year ago. WOW! What an absolute HUGE pain in the ass! You litteraly have to remove EVERYTHING forward of the firewall. Including the sheetmetal.

My daughter got this one, top of the line convertible, over a year ago and loves it. Nothing has gone wrong with it at all. The dealers are few and far between. None in the area of NJ where she lives, so she came to PA and there's a dealer here in Downingtown that has a ton of them. There were other people from a distance at the dealer that day too. So they are still scarce to see on the road in NJ area she lives in so the car attracts a lot of attention. It runs well, has decent pickup (with an automatic) and maneuvers well, feels good on the road. I fit well in the drivers seat and I get my suits from the Ziggy collection!

I will give you being half right, as to being sold here, it was after Fiat took over Chrysler , Dec 2010 is when production started on them for US sales

I like 'em, but then I've always liked Fiat's. I had a 128 in '72 I can't remember what year it was 68-70? I was in high school and I drove the out of that car and it held up well.

Tom, your daughter's car looks cool!

I've been looking around to get a kit of this car. Haven't seen any at any LHS or model swap meets.

Is the Fujima stuff readily available in the USA? I am not familiar with that manufacturer....

I love Fiats too. One of my uncles drove me from Chicago to central Minnesota in an X1/9 when I was a kid, I believe it was the farthest anyone ever traveled in an X1/9.

You'd have to find a really well stocked LHS that does a brisk business in Asian kits to find most Fujimi models. They export a few things directly, but their main focus is their domestic market.

You can easily find them on eBay (usually a few are from U.S. auctions), and of course the usual suspects in direct retailers (Hobby Search, Hobby Link Japan).

Very fine work you're doing here!

PS I've tried that Zero clear before and didn't get the nice result you did. Did you do anything different from the instructions or do you have any tips?

EDIT OK, in the meantime I had a look at your video which answers my question.
