dpride Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I recently unpacked these old models I built about 1960. They survived pretty well. The rubber and chrome have seen better days. You can see the influence of the show cars of that period in these two. I don't think I will start building anything this small again. I think I left out some of the front suspension parts or they have been lost.
High octane Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Cool builds, and I wish I had some of my old builds from the 60's but I don't.
randx0 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Cool , I really like this style of builds. I wish I could capture that feel of that era . Thanks for dusting them off and posting them up.
slusher Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Sharp old builds, they did hold up really nice..
peekay Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Wow, you were really going for it already way back then.
PappyD340 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Yep, I would say they have survived extremely well, they still look fantastic!!
DonW Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Wow! What scale are they? What kits are they built from? Thanks for showing them.
Foxer Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Those are pretty cool from way back then. Interesting that you found decent sized wire instead of sewing thread to use!
Jordan 191 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 It's cool how inline they are with current trends.
cobraman Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I agree, very cool. How nice to see these old builds.
Sixties Sam Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Very cool builds! Those frames look like ones from the AMT parts pack. I had a couple of them. Nice work - glad you kept them all these years! Sam
RatRod Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 How cool is that to stumble onto, and in your own stash..... Both are very neat pieces of history, thanks for sharing Dave.
Ramfins59 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Dave, those are really cool. Engine wiring, fuzzy upholstery and opening doors...... you were really an "advanced modeler" back in those good old days.
Matt T. Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Wicked! Very nice vintage builds here, David. Well done.
dpride Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Thanks for all the comments, finding these little guys brings back a flood of good memories that are generally just filed away. I guess I was about 13 or 14 when these were built. It appears I liked the Chrysler Hemi and blue paint.
mrknowetall Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Survivor Models! Can't beat that, and they all look great!
Jordan 191 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I have gone back and looked at some models I built when I was 13-14, and in some ways I think I had superior technique back then. It doesn't make sense, but it's the sad truth.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Great looking models !! I see a lot of vintage Revell parts-pack content in both of those...very very nice period pieces, clean craftsmanship, and well-thought out and integrated modifications.
the goon Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Very nice. They do fit in with todays styles. Mark
realgone58 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Very nice! Love both of them! You kept them very well, too.
