Kennyboy Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 A little more progress....... Got the side skirts shaped and glued on. The body is pretty much ready for putty sculpting. What you see will be the skeleton that will provide the shape for what is to come. Oh yeah, gotta do a little work to the front end yet....will shape the area next to the headlights for the projectors.
slusher Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Real nice work so far Ken. Hang in there...
Kennyboy Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Real nice work so far Ken. Hang in there... Thanks Carl! I appreciate the support!
Maindrian Pace Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Ken, I just so happen to have a pair of taillight lenses from a Nichimo 1:16 scale '68 Shelby. Think you could use them? -MJS
blunc Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 wow, the only thing better than having a pair of those lens would be to have them flash sequentially.
Kennyboy Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 Special thanks to Maindrian Pace (Mike Schnur) for the donation of the rear taillight section from the 1/16 Nichimo GT500!!! I have been busy with body work on this and am quite happy where it is going..........this is rough (not sanded yet) but you can see that it is coming together. A lot of work yet though! ENJOY!

What kind of putty do you use Ken?
Kennyboy Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 What kind of putty do you use Ken? The base work was done with Apoxie Sculpt by Aves, I let it dry 24 hours (as recommended) and then covered it with Tamiya white putty to smooth it out even more........the block sanding should level it perfectly in a day or so.
DrKerry Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Kool beans, it's coming together nicely Ken!!!!!!!
Kennyboy Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 Thanks that's very helpful Ken. No problem Len. Glad to help! Kool beans, it's coming together nicely Ken!!!!!!! Thank you Kerry!
BigBad Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 This is shaping up! Very interesting build you have there! Love the bodywork and the deep dished wheels look great. It's going to be real nice.
Kennyboy Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 Thank you Robert! This is the closest I will get to my own "Eleanor." I will be blocking it out tomorrow (this side of it anyway) .
DrKerry Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Stand up wind or you'll look like Frosty the Snowman!!!! LMBO.....
vamach1 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Perhaps AMT will issue the 67 fastback as a convertible like Revell did with the 69 Shelby and make this conversion a whole lot easier. I may attempt to turn the Revell Shelby conv into a "stock" Mustang conv using the Revell Mach1 as my kitbash base.
Kennyboy Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 FINALLY an update!! Since I started working on 1st shift again, I haven't been building as much.......worked on this today for a while though. Getting closer. Disregard the area ahead of the front door jamb.......I have work to do there next. Took some pics both with and without the flash. Till next time..............
Kennyboy Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 By chance do you work at Quad? Hmmm noooo.......? I am a crash test technician.
vamach1 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 It would be interesting to see these 1/16 scale two models morphed together into a 68 Shelby convertible but that could be expensive given that both are long out of production. The progress on yours is looking good.
