Rob Hall Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Do you know what the "E-400" & 'E-475' Stand for?? NOT Horsepower!!! Torque? I know Buick did that with some of their engines...
mrknowetall Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 The '49 Merc wagon (woody) is very close now. Some hobby stores will have it in about two weeks.
thatz4u Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 It's on the Revell site, saw it Friday..it reminds me of the "return of the Mod Squad" movie on TV about a month ago. Sorry, but I just HAD to get out of my system...LOL
peter31a Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 That's all right, Al. I've been thinking the same thing since this kit was announced. The Aurora Mod Squad Woody that I built as a kid is on display in my cabinet. I've taken it too many places and lost the front bumper but the rest is all there. I think it's what started my love of woodies. Can't wait for this kit and is one of the few times I can say with certainty I will buy multiple copies of.
Mike Kucaba Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Great! I have some very fine veneers that I'd like to try out on it.
Guest Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Casey, is that the kit or the real car? Edited December 14, 2013 by midnightprowler
mrknowetall Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Casey, is that the kit or the real car? It's the built kit, but very "photoshopped".
SteveG Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 It's the built kit, but very "photoshopped". Correct .... here's the actual built up from the recent Toledo NNL. Not my best photo, sorry. Hopefully the kit will include decals for the wood inserts. -Steve

Brett Barrow Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Who does woodgrain decals for the ribs. Uschi van der Rosten http://www.uschivdr.com/ Great woodgrain decals, I plan on using them for all the wood (and the woodgrained dashboard - that'll be fun!) on mine.
Hayabusa Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Another must have.. Agree with the decals from Uschi van der Rosten, I think they will look great on this model.
Luc Janssens Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Roy Sorenson must've received an advance copy of this kit ... he has pics of it posted on his Facebook page. Looks great! thanks for the tip! here's the decal sheet! Photo courtesy of Roy Sörenson via FB

mrknowetall Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Just a heads up for you Merc Woody fanatics! Revell has shipped the Merc woody (and other kits) to hobby shops participating in Revell's Preferred Partner program. The woody just arrived in my local hobby shop. Will I get one? You bet! The "Slingster" is also in the shipment. I'll be nabbing one of those as well.
DaveM Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Just opened one. Not sure if I can do pics with the new laptop yet, but it looks really nice out of the box. The box art car has the visor over the windshield. This may be the cure for the funny looking "forehead" over the windshield. It looks like the kit is pretty accurate at a first glance. No stock flathead, but I have several leftover from my AMT kits. I will try to post pics of this and the Slingster later on if I can get the camera and computer on the same page. Who is going to be the first to build one of these as a custom or surf wagon?
mrknowetall Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Who is going to be the first to build one of these as a custom or surf wagon? I don't know if I'll be the first, but a surf style wagon is what I'm seeing for my build.
Bob Ellis Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I guess Link, Julie and Pete will be riding in the new Revell Woody from now on instead of the so so Aurora Woody?
Brett Barrow Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 ARGH!!! Been lucky with new Revell kits lately, but I finally got hit with the frosty chrome on my hubcaps. Luckily I don't plan on using them, got other plans for wheels (chrome reverse w/ baby moons from AMT's 49 Merc coupe) . I'll have some pics and instruction sheet scans up later today.

Brett Barrow Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 How do you like the kit? Wish there were more hot rod parts/surf wagon stuff in there, but overall I like it.
IMPALASS89 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I just bought one last night also nice kit but have some chrome issues with the hub caps not all the way chrome on spots.I hope Revell will replace them.
