aw106 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) First off sorry for the first few photos being of such poor quality the only camera I had at the time was my phone. I’ll have some more pictures up in a couple of days of the progress since these were taken. Anyway I’ve always liked these cars (even though I haven’t ever seen a real one) so I decided to have a go at one. The body is from the Revell Nova ss kit while the chassis is a narrowed version on a 1995 AMT Monte Carlo NASCAR. Most of the large parts of the cage have been built from styrene rod as well as the new front to the chassis (Not pictured here yet) More photos are avalibe in this album:https://imageshack.com/a/aRrq/1 So enjoy and all comments are welcome. RobDD Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Looking forward to seeing this one built.Always liked short track stock cars.Keep us posted!
Belugawrx Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Oh Ya!!! Nice work so far I love NASCAR chassis under anything!!!!
qkenuf4u Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 love novas and looks like it will be a cool build ....
aw106 Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Right here we go, update time. I will say I don't actually build this fast it just happens the last photos were quite old. So we have the chassis nearing completion, the body now has enlarged wheel arches and the bumpers are de-chromed for the time being and some parts have been painted along with the wheels. And to finish a quick shot of it on the shelf awaiting more work with a friend
Karl LaFong Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 So far, so good! What color(s) will it be?
aw106 Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 So far, so good! What color(s) will it be? Not 100% yet but I'm thinking blue and sliver with the chassis in blue.
greasemonkey1697 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Great work so far. I always like racing models whether it be asphalt or dirt/clay. Cant wait to see the finished product
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Nice job. A subject that isn't seen very often. bobthehobbyguy
dragcarz Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Very Nice, good to see circle track cars once in a while, it's amazing how the NASCAR boon dropped off so quickly.
aw106 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Ok It's been a while since my last update. So I now have a new trunk floor And new rear panels for the chassis I opened the trunk lid and added some strips to support it in place Added the shock mountings to the chassis And a couple of quick test fittings of some parts Hopefully once I have the rear arches sorted all I need to do is get some A/N fittings and then it's on to painting and assembly.
aw106 Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Next set of updates. I now have the belts done ready to go into the car I also tried making a window net and would like some opinions on it as I'm undecided Finally I now have the spoiler and splitter installed, they are a little on the large side (the spoiler is current NASCAR size) but I think they look good on the car. I am thinking of a slightly more modern look for the finished car, also still undecided but I may use a Kirkey seat in the car as well.
Dale W. Verts Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 VERY neat. I too dig the dirt trackers. I think the window netting is a little out-of-scale (too large) but you are definitely on the right track. Keep up the good work. Dale

Keep up the good work. Dale Thanks but it's actually an asphalt car. I made the new from the same ribbon as the belts, and yeah it does seem a bit off. I have some other netting that I'll give a go later in the week.
aw106 Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 (edited) So another update. Seat and dash have been test fitted Added fuel filler to body And I'm pretty much ready to call the chassis finished So hopefully the car will be in primer tomorrow Edited May 18, 2014 by aw106
