freakshow12 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Hey guys. I have decided to build a mustang since I have not done one in a while. It's a replica of one of the 96 twister specials built. They were all grabber orange with black interior. They were all supposed to be 428 cobra jets but only 48 were. This one is one of the 428 4 speed super cobra jet cars. I opened the doors and trunk. All cars had shaker hoods so I started with a flat boss 302 hood and made one along with the twist locks. I also modified the rear valence for the rectangular tips these had Edited April 16, 2014 by freakshow12
Jeff Johnston Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I did virtually the same project using Keith Mark's awesome decals. Nice start on yours.
freakshow12 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 That's where I got my decals too. I have already done the Torino twister a while back. Next will be one of the 4 twister rancheros...
Modelbuilder Mark Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Looking forward to this one. Always liked the lines of the MachI
bogger44 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Real nice start Fred, looking forward to this. I've toyed with the idea of doing a Twister as well, someday. Where are you sourcing the 428 from?
freakshow12 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) I am taking the 428 from the 69 cj kit. It's a tad small but once it is detailed out I won't look too bad. I could have went the easy route and just done a shaker on the Cleveland as the other 48 cars had that. I like to do things the hard way. Like the lawman that will be coming soon... lambrakos Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 This Mustang lover is pulling up a chair!
freakshow12 Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Got a bit more done. Everything opens! Don't mind the wheel and tire combo. That's for a lawman project but were handy! One door jamb coming along. Comments good or bad welcome
fantacmet Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Lookin good so far. Thank you for hinging the doors correctly. So many people swing them straight out instead of the leading edge dipping into the body, which makes them look goofy and more diecast/toy like. Yours is done right and will be tougher to tell the difference from the real deal. Watching this one with earnest.
Dragfreak Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Very nice work! the door jambs look very good, I need to get around to trying to open up the doors and trunk lid one of these days.
freakshow12 Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 Managed to get a little more in on this. Jambs all match up to interior now. Couple little things to do on them. I got some primer on them and they look ok to me. Trunk underside details are in at this point as well
1 bad55 stan Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 That looks sweet to me,i really like what you have done so far, keep us posted..
bogger44 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Wow Fred, this is looking sharp. Very nice work so far, keep it up.
