DrKerry Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Ok as you look at these first two photos you may think....Yup it's Gordon or.... Yup it's Earnhardt....... Now the story, When my son was ten (now he's 26) he was an avid Gordon fan and of course, I was Earnhardt. He asked me one day during a race that if Gordon and Earnhardt crossed the line at an exact tie who would win? I told him both that it would be a tie. That got my wheels turning and I thought of "Split Decisions". That way both his driver and mine could win on any given Sunday...... Now to show you what the entire car looks like..... Right down to the chassis...
DrKerry Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 I always wanted to do the mirror image of this car but never did. Now I don't know what I ever did with the other half of the decals....
DrKerry Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 Thanks Oscar, it was built over 15 years ago... but I still like it!!!
slusher Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Man that's is cool and great Kerry. I like how you kept it equal all through the whole build. May be an older build but you still come up with cool build ideas...
Thatswhatshesaid Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Excellent job!! Very created and well executed!!
PappyD340 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 That really is COOL, you did an excellent job on it Kerry!
Dwight55 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I remember the car at RWIS meetings. And I remember your son, but you must be off on his age.. He can't be 26...........can he? My but time flies.
DrKerry Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 Thanks gents, yes Dwight he's 26. He ain't the little pip squeak you remember anymore.
Nacho Z Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Very cool idea and you pulled it off to a "T". It could not have been easy to cut all of those decals and get them to match up so perfectly.
DrKerry Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Wasn't to easy but it wasn't to bad either....
Dirt Demon Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I did the same thing many years ago, but I did it using a $70.00 diecast..... of course it was Dale Sr. and Jr. though.
Danno Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 That's neat, Doc! Good way to solve a controversy!!
DrKerry Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 Digging through some old decalsm last night you'll never guess what I found.......... The other sides of each car!!!!!!!!!!
lillakev Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 We used to see a street Thunderbird at Atlanta every year painted similar, it had Davey Allison's scheme on the driver side and Alan Kulwicki's on the passenger side. Seems like we always saw it somewhere on the way to the track or leaving.
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Great idea Dr. Its the beauty of model building the only limit is ones imagination.
