Porscheman Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) This Ranchero started out as the lastest issue. I painted it Tamiya Grey Green with Testeor Wet Look Clear. A light coat of Tamiya Clear Blue on the windows. The only option on this truck were white walls. The pre-printed tires are a nice touch, but when fitted on the steel wheels, which look too large, the white walls almost vanished. I filed the lip off the edge of the wheels and it makes a big difference. Nice kit and fits in perfectly with my early 60's replica stocks. Thank you for looking. 1972coronet Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I like it a lot ! That's a perfect colour for the period of the vehicle . Great job , Al !
slusher Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Super sharp build Al. I have one I need to get going...
afx Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Very nice color choice and build. I prefer cars without a bunch of chrome.
Porscheman Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I really enjoyed building this one. If Harry should read this, interior and exterior mirrors were options along with sunvisiors, heater, seatbelts, radio and all window trim with the exception of the chrome windshield frame, door handles and emblems. Ramfins59 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Al, you did your usual fine job on that Ranchero.
Porscheman Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Thanks guys. Sometimes simple is just beautiful
Sixties Sam Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Very nice! I like the plain Jane look on this. I want to get that kit, but I wish it had a 6-cylinder engine included in the kit. Sam
Chuck Most Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Nice! I did the same thing with the wheels on the two I've built. How did you deal with the too-short mounting bosses on the wheels?
Porscheman Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Nice! I did the same thing with the wheels on the two I've built. How did you deal with the too-short mounting bosses on the wheels? Thanks Charlie, Sam and Chuck. Chuck, Since all my builds are curbside I centered the wheels and tires on the chassis and instant glued in place. Al
Pete L. Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Al, Really well done, captures the era really well !!!
unclescott58 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 The Gray Green looks a lot better than it sounds. Great color for something from this era. Scott
