MadKaw6 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 kit. Made a few changes to the interior to make it an '89. Used the Jetsonic lightbar out of a Taurus police car kit. Got the decals from a friend, not sure who made them. Weathered with different shades of gray pastel chalk. Paint is Model Master enamel.
Helix Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Nice work Frank, I like how the grey pastels turned out inside the wheel arches, looks very convincing....
kymdlr Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Good looking build, i made one fairly close to that, except i went with the Vector lightbar. I like the vent visors on the side windows, very nice touch. Any interior pics?
mikemopar70 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Very nice looking Mustang! This kit is perfectly suited to build a police car!! Very convincing and realist, congratulations!!
MadKaw6 Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) Good looking build, i made one fairly close to that, except i went with the Vector lightbar. I like the vent visors on the side windows, very nice touch. Any interior pics? I didn't take any interior pictures while building it. I'll try to take a couple and see how they turn out. The changes I made to make it an '89 were the steering wheel/column, and removed the rear seat belt covers off the rear package tray. I'm sure there are other differences, but those two things are the most obvious on a model car. I couldn't get a good picture of the dashboard, but you can see the rear package tray okay in this shot. The steering wheel came from an old MPC Mustang GT and I scratchbuilt the column. Part of the radio/radar/lightbar control equipment came from the kit and the radar itself came from a Taurus kit. I added an additional radio that's mounted under the dash.Thanks. Maindrian Pace Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Super clean, among the best police Stangs yet. -MJS
charlie8575 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Looks good. The two-tone helps hide the "height" issue. Charlie Larkin
MsDano85gt Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I look to get my 79' notchback with the pace car/ cobra front clip pretty close to done soon!
Agent G Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Very, very nice. Both are very well built. How long did it take for the MM Ivory to dry? G
MadKaw6 Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Very, very nice. Both are very well built. How long did it take for the MM Ivory to dry? G I usually let it dry for a couple weeks. I move on to other projects so I don't mess with it.
Agent G Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Same here. I found that MM Ivory took a minimum of two weeks and sometimes wasn't fully cured even then. G
kilrathy10 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Man, that was a bad ride, back in the day.....You'd hate to see that in your rear view.....Awesome work....Looks very authentic....
