cartpix Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I finished this one, last week. It's a Revell kit, with wheels & tires, from my parts box. The paint is Jacquard pearl powders, mixed with Testors clear, over flat white, topped with Future. The bumpers are done in Alclad chrome. It's the the first time I have used Alclad & it didn't turn out, like I wanted. I guess I need to try again. Thanks for looking.
Danno Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Wow! That color and finish is killer! Don't be afraid to try the alclad again.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Very cool color color Jeff! I don't know, I think the steel gray look of the bumpers works nicely with it! Steve
cartpix Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Cobraman, Thanks Danno, Thanks & I intend to use the alclad again. It's just like a lot of new techniques, it works better, the more you do it. Try, try again. Or is it, lather, rinse, repeat? Steven, Thanks. It wasn't a total loss. Parts of them are reflective. LOL Thanks Slusher.
horsepower Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Just remember how you got that effect with the Alclad, it's the perfect finish for natural steel.
Grumpa Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I think that this is cool Jeff. I love the "brushed" look on the bumpers. It goes well with the color and it offsets the chrome on the grill and side trim. You may have given the car a different look by having the Alclad fail on this application. Consider the fact that with a bright chrome finish it would look like any other '55. Just a thought. Oh.....and I love "Cragers". Looks good to me!
DeeCee Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Like this one, the color looks great and the darker bumpers suits it i think.
Jantrix Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Perfection. A very authentic look on this one. Excellent work.
cartpix Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Thanks, everyone. I appreciate all the positive comments.
carrucha Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Cool '55 Chevy. The Cragars and thin whitewall tires are a nice choice.
