alan barton Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) I built that Toy show re-issue of the T bucket and it is easily the nicest T bucket kit I have ever built ( and that coming from some-one who loves the Monogram SweeTee/ Lil T kit.) The box art does it no justice at all. The proportions are excellent. Suspension lacked any real positive locating points but apart from that it was almost shake and bake. I have the 32 sedan, phaeton, chopped and unchopped coupes and delivery in my collection as well and the T is a much nicer model than any of them. One nice point about the Switchers 32 Fords - they had the correct lower body proportions, unlike AMT's butchered efforts. The Tudor looks a bit tall and the phaeton looks a bit narrow gutted but the Graffiti coupe has excellent body proportions - the roof/ body fit isnt THAT bad. Was the unchopped coupe called Golden Rod? Cheers Alan Edited October 2, 2014 by alan barton 1
slusher Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) I bought the switchers 32 Ford sedan-phaeton a few years back at Hobby Lobby with a 40 percent off coupon. Wish they would bring them back again. Edited October 2, 2014 by slusher
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Nearly all of my model parts are inherited 1960s-1980s kits and parts. I now know I have parts to at least a few of these including the Evil T and the Goldenrod.
unclescott58 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) It is a Switcher and it was also issued a few years ago with the other ones. Is that what the front end looks like on this kit? If that's the case, it's worst looking '32 Ford I've ever seen. And not worth looking for. Scott Edited October 3, 2014 by unclescott58
ChrisPflug Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Not sure if the Model A radiator is the only one offered or just an option - the coupe/roadster have a '32 grille

And not worth looking for. Scott No, it comes with the 32 Rad in it. These re-issues had some of the worst box art builds I have seen in a long time! Its a cool and simple little build model. I started one back then but did not finish it. Will try to find it later and post a pic. But here is the T with a few mods Edited October 2, 2014 by Daddyfink
Danny Lectro Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I recently picked up the 32 sedan / phaeton, from the Dirt Track Racers reissue. I think that might be my next car build, after I wrap up my current entry to the "All The Rest" community build. I have the chrome parts in the purple pond, and the basecoat is still hanging on really tight in places. I want to get it all off because it was applied very heavily, and is obscuring some details.

Cheers Alan I hope to build mine soon. I think I'm going to do it together with the AMT Fruit Wagon. From looking at the box art pics, it looks pretty good, with the exception of the front suspension, which looks high. But that looks easily fixable by scratchbuilding a little "hanger" bracket for the suicide front spring, instead of mounting it where/how they'd have you do it. That's what I'm gonna do, anyway.
Daddyfink Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Those are awesome pics, Greg! Wish someone would do decals for the Brizio car

Greg Myers Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) all three same car. Edited October 3, 2014 by Greg Myers
Snake45 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Uhhhh, isn't that an AMT Double Dragster with blower setup from the '53 Stude (or maybe '62 Corvette)?
Daddyfink Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I used the engine and blower setup out of the stude
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 When I first saw this post, I thought of this kind of switcher... If there's one of these in G scale, I need to come across some $ and get one.
unclescott58 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Okay, rereading this thread I'm a little confused about whether MPC's '32 Sedan Delivery was ever part of Swiches series or not? The information I can gleem from reading this thread, and looking at the instructions on another site for the Swichers Sedan/Phaeton is that it is not a kit that can be built into a true Sedan Delivery. Like the stand alone Sedan Delivery kit. Am I correct on this? Or am I missing something here? Also, I'd like to see some more pictures. Especially of MPC's true '32 Sedan Delivery kit, if anybody has any? Scott
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The sedan delivery used the chassis from the sedan\phaeton but the sedan delivery was not an option for the switcher kit. I think it was a way to get more use for the rest of the tooling from the switchers kit.
Chitown Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I built one of these, must have been the '25 T as it was a roadster. I think the side pipes are still in the parts box! I just don't recall that hardtop/c-cab(?) option, but it's been about 40 years. I do remember having the Keep On Truckin' '32 Sedan Delivery from the NSRA series along with the Lil' Evil T.

ChrisPflug Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Think the confusion comes from the picture posted earlier of the RC2 reissue box art with the "wrong" body Lots of "misleading" box art from those days- I believe the story was the builders were told the kits were reissues and had to provide their own kit and parts - like the Cragars and aftermarket stripes on the box art car for the 74 GTX Road Runner and the MPC '72 Duster with Viper V10 on the box of the "Street Machine" '71 AMT The sedan delivery used the chassis from the sedan\phaeton but the sedan delivery was not an option for the switcher kit. I think it was a way to get more use for the rest of the tooling from the switchers kit.

What are you talking about? What does this have to do with MPC Switchers? Scott
