Greg Wann Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) http://www.ebay.com/itm/55-Belair-cheverlot-/141321652220?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item20e76d47fc Just found this on Ebay looking at model car kits. If you live near Baton Rouge, you might want to bid. Edited June 21, 2014 by Greg Wann
ChrisBcritter Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Just bring some bug spray for those hornests! Edited June 21, 2014 by ChrisBcritter
Danno Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Boy howdy! That's a smoking deal for one of those extremely rare Cheverlots!!! Edited June 21, 2014 by Danno
Harry P. Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Boy howdy! That's a smoking deal for one of those extremely rare Cheverlots!!! Yeah, but it doesn't run because of the "wire hornest." Finding a replacement wire hornest for a '55 Cheverlot isn't going to be easy...
slusher Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Yeah, but it doesn't run because of the "wire hornest." Finding a replacement wire hornest for a '55 Cheverlot isn't going to be easy... Some one makes a replacement for it. Still a cheap car.. Edited June 21, 2014 by slusher
Greg Wann Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 Cheap indeed. Seller has the wire hornest, just needs installed. If this were a 70's Buick GS, I would be all in!
Draggon Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I like the free shipping in a priority mail envelop. I asked the seller a ? we'll see what happens
Brett Barrow Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 This is what happens when you let old people on the internet. They create an eBay account and immediately proceed to sell their 55 Chevy for $100 in the model kits section. Kids, don't let your grandparents on the internet unsupervised. This internet is serious business.
Greg Wann Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 $669.00!! What a deal. I hope someone on here won the bid.
scummy Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) Yer i saw this earlier and sent the link to my mates . Geez a car like this would have gone for about 8 to 10 thousand easy in australia . Edited June 22, 2014 by scummy

ChrisBcritter Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I can't believe this. I didn't watch the ending because I figured the listing would get pulled way before then - I don't think we've heard the last of this story.
jas1957 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 If that is legit someone got the deal of the century, wire hornest flat tire & all.
Brett Barrow Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 You're going to be old someday, too, Brett. I hope somebody is just as rude and insulting to you as your post is. Lighten up Francis, it was a joke. Is losing one's sense of humor part of the aging process as well? I hope not...
Deano Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Lighten up Francis, it was a joke. Is losing one's sense of humor part of the aging process as well? I hope not... Brett, some folks never HAD a sense of humor, they're the ones who go around being offended on behalf of others.
Danno Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Lighten up Francis, it was a joke. Is losing one's sense of humor part of the aging process as well? I hope not... It may well be, Mortimer. It's difficult to tell the difference between the occasional "joke" and all the serious cheap shots taken around here by some of the puppies . . . No one can avoid "the aging process" and getting "old" is no one's fault. Do you make "jokes" about disabled people, too? Let me know how it goes for you when it's your turn in the barrel.
Danno Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Brett, some folks never HAD a sense of humor, they're the ones who go around being offended on behalf of others. Sorry to disappoint you, Deano, but that certainly does NOT apply to me.
bobthehobbyguy Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 This is the perfect how to not get a lot of money for an ebay item - misspell the item name and put it in the wrong category.
Deano Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Sorry to disappoint you, Deano, but that certainly does NOT apply to me. Never said it did. You have to admit that there are those that it does apply to.
Brett Barrow Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 . Do you make "jokes" about disabled people, too? Only if they're old. I'm not a monster...
Lunajammer Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Only if they're old. I'm not a monster... You guys should start a reality show. Funnier than those motorcycle dudes. But back to the topic at hand, was that '55 listed only in the modeling section? I have to agree that there will probably be more to this story.
Draggon Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I just now looked at it again. I had asked the seller if it was a model or real car and got no response. I have seen pics of real cars advertised as what the built model looks like, so it's gonna be interesting what this really is.
Greg Wann Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 If you open the auction link and look at the category it was listed in it would seem that it was only listed in the toys/hobbies/model car kits. I'm certainly no genius by any stretch of the word but it does look like a real car to me based on what is around it with outside lighting and shadows. Perhaps a wife caught the hubby cheating or he was already kicked out and could not get the car moved. I'm sure it is an interesting story but the deal of a lifetime for someone. As hindsight is always 20/20, I wish I would have bid a grand for fun. It would have been worth a roadtrip.
Tom Geiger Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Guys, that deal will never get done. The seller is obviously confused and will never complete that transaction. And no court in America will enforce that sale. It is funny though. Many years ago when I'd hang on the eBay sellers boards, a guy came on for help. He had sold a few things and was concerned as to what to do. He put a link to the auction in question, and the guy had listed a reclining easy chair for $75 with free shipping. He was in Virginia and the buyer was in California. A quick look at his other auctions showed him selling a chain saw, a patio furniture set and some other large items, all starting at a penny with free shipping. The folks on the board helped him untangle his mess and cancel his auctions. Back when eBay was new, if you didn't put in a minimum bid it defaulted to a penny, Ask me how I know that one!
